Is it worth it to buy wheel and tire packages or simply to just buy the rims and get tires later on?

Depends on to many things. Do you get a free mount and balance? Do you get a discount on the tires? Do you get to choose your tires?

I was going to buy a wheel and tire package at one point, for a really good price. Free mount and balance, plus free shipping. But I was going to be stuck with Dominators or some nonsense tire like that. So I skipped it.

I chose the first option (wheels and tires separately).
Most wheel and tire packages come with not-so-great tires in sizes you don't want or won't fit, so what's the advantage?
I bought wheels and tires separately, and although I regret getting all-seasons instead of summer tires, I'm sure they'll still be better than those kumhos that most wheel and tire packages come with...
Actually I've had my tires for a while now... still waiting for my wheels to arrive in a week or two. http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Id rather get my own tires then go w/ a wheel and tire combo. As the other people said, they usually come with not so great tires and the sizes arent that great. And I have a real good hook up on tires so ill probably get it even cheaper... http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I always seem to be swaping tires form one set of wheels to another so option one.

As an aside, places that offer "Wheel and Tire Packages" generally do not cater to 240SXs ("fWD Offsets" 7in wide wheels, 215 tires on all packages).

I like Tire Rack, You can find some decent tire-wheel combos (as long as you dont tell them its for a 240, and you choose your own tire sizes).
