Hey, Has anyone joined Orkut?

It doesn't seem like many people know about it.

For those of you that don't know, Orkut is Google's answer to Friendster and other community networking websites.

One of the things that sorta makes Orkut stand out is that it's geared towards the needs of users.

You can make group your friends together into different groups and send msgs to them only, but these groups are only seen by you so you don't have to worry about people being mad cuz they weren't invited. they just didn't know.

You can also make online communities and send messages to those communities only, so if you made an alumni community group for only high school alumni, or from a certain class, city, interest group, that's all possible.

I also thing Orkut is going to be a pretty good networking tool, they have friend finders and crush finders and a really unique way of putting everything together.

There's also this thing about joining only if you're invited, this helps prevent Orkut growing too fast, sorta like friendster and all those other services.

----So, are you on Orkut? What do you think about it? Does Google have what it takes to make a site like this useful?
