Is the block and crank from a FWD KA powered car the same as a KA powered RWD? I know the head is different just wondering about the block and crank. I can pick up a KA short block out of a '97 Altima for FREE. I dont have the motors side by side so I cant tell if they are the same.

Thanx

Is there anyway you could test fit that manifold for the altima? (same guy that emailed you)

Unfortunatly, there is no head on the motor. The car that was being worked on is no longer at that shop either. I am sorry if you emailed me at PK and I didnt get back to you. I am having some port 25 issues and can only recieve email there. I havent had time to sort that out yet (not that I would know how to sort it out)

Please keep in touch, I would be willing make arangements to send you a manifold to see if it will fit if your interested. It will probably be a couple weeks before I get production manifolds finished. We could work something out with the proto mani and a mock up turbo.

I believe there is a worm gear on the 240sx KA24DE crankshaft that runs the distributor and the oil pump. Other differences between the two engines are the headers, camshafts, distributor on opposite sides, and mild differences in the head.

What about electronics. Would a 95 Altima have the same ECU and electronics as a 95 240?

some sensors might be similar, but the 240 will have different sensor setups for the transmission and intake manifold.

The blocks are different. The Altima's alternator is on the exhaust side, meaning the castings are different in at least some way...and I'm pretty sure the motor mount locations are different.

EDIT: I'm definitely sure the motor mounts are in the wrong spot.

Some pics of the FWD KA24DE for comparison:

Yea the motor mounts are in different spots. I am sorry though I didn't know the alternators were on opposite sides.
