I've got a rattle at startup which lasts for a few seconds. From what I've heard and read, it's the timing chain. I saw in this post (http://forums.freshalloy.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=UBB9&Number=67263057&Forum =All_Forums&Words=startup%20rattle&Match=And&Searc hpage=0&Limit=25&Old=allposts&Main=67262806&Search =true#Post67263057) that there's a revised chain tensioner for the fwd sr20de that people are putting in their redtops. Will this work in an s14 sr also? The page for the installation into the sr20de is here. (http://www.se-r.net/zotz/se-r_tensioner.htm) Just wondering if anybody has done that, it's been doing it for a while and I'd like to take care of it.

13070-2J200 is standard tensioner on s14 sr20det zenki & kouki.

13070-2J203 is standard tensioner on s15 sr20det, and,,,, nissan superceded the 13070-2J200 with the s15 tensioner.

newer is always better....

Many in the FWD SR20 camp (including myself when I owned an SE-R) upgraded the tensioner to the 13070-2J203. This same part number is listed for the FWD SR20DE and the RWD S15 SR20DET. Just under $50 and in stock at Courtesy Nissan.

Called courtesy Nissan and gave them that part number (13070-2J203), they said it was an invalid part number.. and the part number for the FWD SR20 is 13070-00008.

called my local dealer, and the part number was valid, but they can't get that part. Weird.

Call back and ask to speak with Brian. He knows his sheet and is a good guy. Last I spoke with him they had the tensioner in stock.

The 0008 is the correct one. I had Matt at Courtsey pull the part and confirm it visually.
