My local dealer recommended performing an engine flush on my 120,000 car. They are basically forcing some gritty material through the engine to remove sludge.

Is this effective and safe?

thanks!

U guys are getting RAPED, go to your local Track Auto, or Pep Boys, and pick up a bottle of STP Engine Flush, read the directions, this is exacly what they use when they "flush" ur motor out. I'm a Nissan Tech. Its as simple as changing ur own oil, and it costs like 8 bux, not 180 or 80 bux

It's about $85 bucks at my local Nissan dealer as well. If you want to do it for your Infiniti car, take it to a Nissan dealer. Cheaper and they should know the car more or less.

I had this done on a chevy full size blazer at about 110,000. drove the thing another 25,000 before trading in and didnt notice any oil burning etc. The reason I had it done was I noticed when having the dealer change oil at the 3000 intervals was that after the 100,000 or so miles the oil got dirty quicker. could notice almost the same day that the oil was dirty, so I tried it, and it seemed to work. I usually dont buy into these things but others mentioned it worked for them. cost me $85.00. I guess you be the judge.

That isn't BS. The very same Bilstein company that makes shock absorbers, makes an engine flush machine. I don't have all the details of the process, but I believe chemicals are forced through your engine and the fluids are visibly filtered on the machine.
