ANy ideas?

I mean, I love this SUV to death. But I didn't think it would sell 1400 for the month of April. Do you thinks its the advertising mostly? Or the rub-off effect from the FX45?
Bling factor? http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Where do you get the info on the units sold? I'd be interested in knowing how many there are out there on the road in different states.

QX sold 1,194 in April. But I can see it hitting the 1200-1400 per month mark soon.

I think it's selling becasue it has appeal to the target customer. If you go look at Escaclade and Navigator and then go see the QX it is a very appealing vehicle in the class. Plus it has the added appeal of an import luxury.

Sales:

Feb 80
Mar 1,096
Apr 1,194

Total 2,370

Infiniti says they want to sell 15,000 per year (1,250 monthly)

Yep, the only competitors right now are the Escalade and the Navigator, and many people see the appeal of the QX over those two. It'll be interesting once the next-generation Sequoia (real full-size) based Lexus VX comes out.

hopefully the QX will gain enough fanbase to keep the next Lexus FUll-size at bay.

hopefully the QX will gain enough fanbase to keep the next Lexus FUll-size at bay. But to successfully hold Lexus, Infiniti will have to significantly increase the bling factor of the QX. I dont know how they can do that, but my idea is a "bling" package with bigger chromes covered under warranty.

just an idea... http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I have owned 3 Suburbans(all high end conversions) , an Escalade and now a LX 470. The Infiniti blows those vehicles away particularly when you put $$ into the equation. The QX I am looking at has every conceivable option and is $5000 to $10000 less than the competition. Atlantic Infiniti gave me a demo for a day. It blows the Lexus away: more power, size and handled better in my opinion. Basically my wife is the primary driver of our suv's and she loves the QX. Just as soon as they are a little more flexible on making a deal I will pull the trigger and have a loaded black QX sitting in the driveway!

Need: Power folding 3rd row, and 3rd row roll down windows, Skyview-type roof. Those would be cool. The Excelade and LX come up for a resedign soon so the QX has alot of stuff coming at it soon.

And power rear hatch. Maybe power roof. Maybe something like GMC XUV. Maybe Bullet proof. Maybe presidential tint http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/rolleyes1.gif http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/rolleyes1.gif http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/rolleyes1.gif

Face it ppl. Its another great rollout from Infiniti. Rave reviews. Selling greatly. What else do you want? The owners appreciate it, and like it comared to other offerings, why don't you. If ppl bought based on style, luxury, quality, performance and etc. on things that really mattered, I can assure you, you would see more Infinitis than you do. Until then, be satisfied cause Nissan is already doing big thinds with Infiniti.

Actually, I don't really think it's that the QX56 is so great. It's just that nowadays, in America, ANY SUV will sell and the bigger, the more expensive, seemingly the better. I mean, the GM clones are nothing special but people LOVE them. Infiniti did a great job fulfilling a demand. There is a lot of demand for high-end, Bus size, SUVs.

The QX56 is selling great, because it is the most beautiful full-size SUV out there....Maybe you should ask yourself why the Escallade is selling so well, when it has the ugliest interior of any full-size SUV!! The dashboard of the Escallade is plain disgusting and it still sells.

Matter of fact, the Escalade has beautiful leather. THe reason why its selling so well is because of the prestige and hype about this SUV...As soon as u hear the word, escalade, people associate that with "bling-bling" rims and everything else flashy and luxury. As a result, everyone wants to cash in on this phenomenon. society,....

The QX will sell well since the U.S. is an "everything big and luxury is nice" market. As soon as this vehicle begins to bloom and grow in markets, people will take notice. http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Not if gas prices keep going in the direction they are going. If they do, the full size SUV will be a dinosaur in less then 10 years. (This assumes they make it to over $4.00 a gallon, I already hear it is over $3.00 in California).

Well, ppl who buy them will have enough money to pay for gas.
I only think the ppl with maybe a 35k car with bad gas mileage might be forced to switch vehicles, everyone else, yea, they're that rich http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It nevr ceases to amaze me how people react to the price of gasoline. If gas is as you say $2.37 a gallon and before it was, let's say $1.50 a gallon that is an increase of $.87 per gallon.

If you drive 1500 miles a month and average 18 miles per gallon (that is my current QX56 average) that would equate to a monthly fuel cost increase of $72.50.

I do not believe that people that would pay over $50,000 for a luxury SUV are really that concerned about $72.50. And besides $2.37 is in California which is not representative of the rest of the US.

Gasoline is still less that bottled water and I know Californians have not given up drinking that yet. http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/grin.gif

No kidding DFW_Infiniti. I drive 25K+ miles a year, and with the increase in gas prices, it probably adds $20 to my monthly bill. An extra $5 a week?? Who cares.

Well ... this could lead to a lengthy debate about the economic impact of rising fuel prices. Aside from the obvious direct impact on your wallet at the pump, there are many other indirect increases to factor in. This includes things such as increased shipping costs for all of the products that we buy ... to all of the rest of the transportation and manufacturing industries who will one way or another pass along the increases to the consumer.

All of this combined may not affect those who make $100K+ per year in their buying decisions for high-end and less-fuel efficient SUVs ... but those on the fringe who could afford one may in fact think twice, or even trade down if the high prices continue.

One only need to look at Europe to see how this affects the mindset of people ... and in what kinds of vehicles that they buy.

As for the price of gas in California ... it's been on a constant rise for the last few months (again). And yes, some full-serve stations ... the last one that I saw in the news was in Santa Barbara ... are now charing $3.11 a gallon. And I just filled-up on the way home tonight to the tune of $2.53 per gallon ... up from $2.49 on Sunday.

If you can afford the total cost of ownership for the QX, Hummer, or any other vehcile ... then go for it. But I think new times are on the horizon when concerns about the price of gas will take center stage in the buying decisions of many, many Americans.

Right Mike. Gas prices don't just increase your expenditure for what you burn every month, but the cost of all other fuel dependent goods and services...ex: delivery charges, prices of delvered goods [groceries, EVERYTHING in stores], hey, my landscaper is raising monthly rates, etc, etc. It all adds up. It already has me thinking more of where I live in relationship to where I work, and what I am driving. If manufacturers didn't think it would be an issue, they wouldn't be spending all the millions of dollars on Hybrid vehicle development. So, while I like the QX and think about how nice it would be to have that level of luxury AND utility, I am crossing it off my list.

Mike, it's more than the price of gas in Europe. Taxes on other automotive goods than just gas also are high, i.e. on auto sales and registrations.

Germany taxes people for having dogs as pets. http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

For sure M-T-X ... I lived in the UK for 3 years and went through the entire high-cost of vehicle ownership drill.

Aside from petrol, which hovered around $4 bucks per gallon, the number plates cost an arm-and-a-leg too ... but then my California plates aren't cheap either. And of course, who can forget the annual TV permit (license). http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Oh ... and for those who are wondering ... gas went up again today. It's now $2.63 for Chevron Supreme (91 octane). http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

The QX56 is selling well because it is the best looking SUV on the market and has bells and whistles up the kazoo. But the key factor is that is a new vehicle from a highly regarded carmaker; very few people have first hand experience in ownership.

If Nissan does not get its act together REAL soon it will STOP selling so well because word is getting around about the many quality/fit/finsih problems.

I am a victim of the reviews and was seduced by the pretty face and body. Day to day life is another matter all together. I am on a first name basis with Greg (my service guy) and rapidly appoaching that status with Marianne and Jennifer at Infiniti customer service. My wife is beginning to think we have something going on. The fleet of G35 loaners is the only thing holding her at bay.

I drop it off again on Monday to have the entire inside of the rear hatch replaced and the doorlock/window control assembly for the front passenger door replaced. I have already had three (yes, 3) headliner/overhead console assemblies and it is still not acceptable. The service manager and I are going to discuss all the damage to the rest of the enterior during that process along with the frayed fabric, bubbles, creases, and dirty handprints on the headliner. The rattles and squeaks drive you nuts on concrete freeway, railroad crossings, washboard asphalt, etc.

While it is in the shop they will also look at why the steering wheel shakes enough to take it out of your hand over rough surfaces and the screaching brakes.

The vehicle was purchased on 18 June, this is 23 July.

Akers: Since us QX56 owners have 1 thing, at least, in common, a trouble free auto, could you please post what the svc dept finds as far as the steering wheel shake and what caused the rattle. What I mean is I know, or think, you have more then 1 rattle, cause for each rattle. This way when I or another QX owner has the problem, we can pass the fix on to our svc dept. I will do the same. Thanks.

Don't feel sorry for everyone! I tow a 6000 lb boat, drive to work every day and will be taking vacation in a remote house on the Outer Banks only accessible with 4WD. I'm running this rig like I did my E250, and when I wash it down I can still take friends out to dinner in class. Everthing works like I paid for.

Infiniti should have waited exactly one year after the launch of the Armada to launch the QX56. That way, they would have enough time to fix the problems of the Armada and elimiante most of the problems on the current QX56.
I am definately waiting for the 2006 year model to buy the QX56, that way most of the annoying rattles and squeaks will be fixed...Will be buying one in October of 2005.
