Can either the SER 2L or Skyline GTR 2L Turbo fit in the older 1.6L? How much? Where? How many additional add-ons? Worth it? My 1.6L has 140K miles on it and I just did wheels, exhaust, shocks and springs so I dont want to sell it.

my advice would be to stop spending money on it, save up, and upgrade to a stronger platform. I was going to spend money on my Maxima and try and make it a little better (handling, speed, looks, etc) but the more I thought about it, the less I wanted to. Why make a family sedan something that it's not? I saved up for a year and put a down payment on the Z, which runs circles around the Max http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif

I think there might be info on the SER web page. I think people have done SER 2.0 swap before, but I really doubt Skyline motor will fit. The motors are mounted differently in both cars and you would probaly have to find a FWD tranny for the Skyline motor, if they even make one.
But I'm with Got Rice? on this one. You might want to save up your money and buy a SE-R instead. You could always take the wheels, exhaust, shocks and springs on your current car and put them on the next. Of course this is assuming you buy an SE-R Sentra. I was also faced with this problem a few years back. I had an 90 Sentra that I wanted to fix up and do the whole thing. Change the motor and all that other good stuff. Then I realized it would be much cheaper just to get a better car and work with that instead. So I saved my pennies and purchased a new used car. And as Got Rice? puts it, my current car runs circles around my old Sentra. http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif

The SR20DE will drop right into the your 1.6L Sentra. But you'd have to get the engine, tranny and axles. Plus the only major difference between the 1.6L and the 2.0L Sentra is mainly the engine. The suspension components are the same and I think the 1.6L has rear drums while the 2.0L has rear discs. But unless you're going to do the swap yourself you might as well just take off everything you put on your car change it back to stock, sell it and buy an SE-R because for the price of the engine swap and the brake conversion you'll be paying about as much as a used Classic SE-R. Oh yeah, thats considering if you can even find a classic though... hehe... finding it harder and harder to come by one... hehehe...

140k mi on the engine...looks like it's too late to consider beginning modding this engine out. The others gave some good advice...here's mine: If $$$ is the issue, save what you would spend on the mods for the 1.6 and down the road get yourself a better platform. Your current engine should give you a respectable amount of reliable transportation while you save up for your SE-R or better. In the meantime, I'm staying true to my 1.6!!! I too am on the path to ultimately owning an SE-R or future Nissan release!
