The battle of the threads

He won. Advertising is everything. Although mine is alittle more thought provoking then misleading.

And it doesn't help that I am posting here thus increasing the threads post count. http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/wink.gif

MiReLaNsKi, you won because this thread is talking about the two threads. In yours we are actually talking about the S-Class.

"The integration of the trunk is similar to the controversial 7 Series, with its freestanding trunk lid."

Merc blew the design on this one. Camry front end and 7 back end does not equal a good looking car. Sounds like they're using better materials for the interior, but that doesn't matter because it looks pretty bad too.

Okay, so far we've identified that the front end has been copied from the Toyota Camry, the back end has been copied from the BMW 7-series. And I dare add that the fender flares appear to have been copied from the Ford Focus.

I think that the, ahem, controversial (read: ugly) designs of the future Merc-Benz S and the current BMW 7 (and 5 and 6 and Z) are consequences of the ever-escalating overall mechanical excellence of autos--especially premium autos. The automakers are attempting to differentiate themselves from their peers by styling their sheetmetal ever-more radically.

It's all quite like watching Britney, Christina, Madonna, and Janet compete to be the, ahem, sexiest (read: skankiest) female entertainer. Britney does a mock striptease at the MTV VMAs; then Christina releases that video for "Dirrty"; then both of them join Madonna onstage for an open-mouthed kiss (again at the MTV VMAs); then Janet trumps them all by showing her titty to the umpteen million people watching the Super Bowl. Sheesh!

P.S. To the credit of folks at DCX, the next-generation M-Class appears--in spy-photos at least--to be a stylish improvement of the current model.

EDIT:
P.P.S. Of course, we should remember that the above photo is a computer-generated guesstimate of how the future S-Class will look. Maybe the production model will be a lot more pleasing to look at.

I think the Camry is skankier and sassier of a big round biatch than this overdone thing with a Benz hood ornament.

Because it's Dirty Old Rich Man Appreciation Week, I motion we rename the S-Class the 'Britney Klasse' because we all know that Britney et al can only survive because they appeal to the lolita-loving dirty old rich men segment of the pop couture market. Oh and this car will be big and ugly too.

So how much do they want for it? http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Perfectly said. Five stars for you...

They should call it the F-Class for focus. I think it looks like a 2005 Focus. Just ugly.

Now then, that looks more like a proper Merc-Benz S-Class. However, I feel a tad troubled to see that the designers at DCX seem to have been reading "The Bangled BMW Book of Interior Design". Ah, but I have nothing if not hope: Maybe I'll visit the site tomorrow, and Deadpool will have posted a picture of a revised dashboard for the future S-Class. http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Honestly, I don't know why I even care. I mean, I'm a Japanese car kind of guy. I like some of the designs and engineering by the Europeans, but I trust the major Japanese manufacturers infinitely more.
