Personally, while they do need to somehow find some designers and engineers to work on US/Canada specific models, I'm not sure that locating in California or Detroit is the best thing. Yes yes I know it's for marketing and economic (labor pooling theory) reasons, but still ... yuck.

The unions had their time and place. They were essential in protecting the workers...too bad they are an archaic, ineffective, and harmful organization that destroys any chance that the big 3 have of overtaking the imports. Toyota will overtake GM by 2010.

Can't wait to see the chain of events that will follow that.

First they'll get pissed and expect GM to magically produce money and pull itself out of debt. Heck, if they can miraculously come up with more cash to throw at the greedy, selfish union workers, then they can obviously loan some to themselves.

Second will be them crawling on hand and knee over to toyota begging for their jobs back. Toyota will only give in if they take enormous pay cuts, if they do at all. They's just as soon intall gundam's to do all the work.
