Car & Driver says that Oldsmobile will no longer be around as of 2005. I know that it is about time, but what is going to happen to all those people out that that bought a Oldsmobile in the last few year, who still have a current warrenty?

Well considering the way GM works, it'll probably just be honored at the dealerships of the other GM brands, especially Cadillac.

Warrenty will be fine, GM is still around so no problems. Most of Oldsmobiles cars were rebadged Chevys/Pontiacs.

They've promised parts for like 15 years or something so those are still widely available and you can get those things serviced anywhere, including GM dealerships.

What, does news travel slowly in New Jersey in these post-Orson Welles days?

Aleros, Bravadas, Intrigues, and Silhouettes aren't that different at all from the Chevrolets and Pontiacs they are based on. Parts and service exist at every GM dealer in the country, unless the GM dealer is strictly ... Oldsmobile's demise has been a fact for at least 2 years so most people buying one should have known and were trying to get a better deal because it won't be around much longer. These days, having the word 'old' in your nameplate is never a good thing.

GM announced it in December 2000 and we knew then that they would start phasing out models in 2002 and finish around 2004, as they have.

Olds Alero, Intrigue, and Aurora were nicer versions of their counterpart Pontiacs (Grand Am, Grand Prix, and Bonneville, although the last is less direct as the Aurora had the Cadillac Northstar-V8 engine in the 4.0 model) for the day. That's really the story. Bravada and Silhouette offer little more in terms of substance over the TrailBlazer and Venture. Word.
