Chrysler showed two new concept vehicles, which will appear at the Detroit Auto Show in January, that may give a clue as to where the automaker could be heading in coming years, according to a story in the Detroit News.
The concepts shown to the press include a pickup truck for the Jeep brand and a sports car for the Chrysler brand.
The Jeep entry, called the Gladiator, is a mid-sized truck with a peel-back canvas roof and diesel engine, and the sports car is called the Chrysler Firepower, a rear-wheel-drive coupe with a 425-horsepower engine.
Chrysler design chief Trevor Creed said the two models were "purely concepts," and that the automaker had no plans to manufacture them. However, the News said, they give hints of possible design directions for Chrysler, which is working to expand its three-model Jeep lineup and move the Chrysler brand up market
