I was too cheap to buy the magazine. (Jan. 05 Driver, I believe) They tested both the FUGA 350GT (M35 Sport Package)and Honda Legend (Acura RL) for several performance categories including acceleration, braking, track test on Tsukuba and wrote a long article on the comparison.
Results:
Acceleration:
M35 0-60 6.7sec 0-100 14.7sec beating out the Legend by almost a full second. Guess 300hp and no torque can't handle a heavy car as well as they hoped.
Braking - The magazine claimed the M35 has the shortest 60-0 braking distance ever recorded, besting even the 350Z and exotics. http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/shocked.gif RL was behind, of course.
Road Course - Believe it or not the M35 ran 1'10 in Tsukuba circuit, the RL was in the 1'12 range. The staff praised the RE050A tires on 19" rims and the torquy engine with the M. The only complain was that it's hard to hook up the car on corner exits where the M35 left long trails of black rubber mark from the inside tire. (Eh? No LSD!?) The RL was very composed and handled corners very well, the SH-AWD allows the RL to carve through corners with ease and hook up immediately at corner exits. Still...... losing by 2 seconds is a pretty big deal.
Congrats Nissan/Infiniti. The magazine summarized that the M35 is a driver car capable of dethroning the BMW 5 series, whereas the RL is a techno advanced luxury car. I wonder how much faster the M45 will be when it comes out with the 340hp V8. http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
