When I sat in the new M the other day I noticed something a little odd.
There was a 6 disk CD changer in the center of the front dash, and what appeared to be two additional DVD players: One in the glove compartment, and one inside the center console.
If anyone has some knowledge about these, here are a few questions:
1 Does anyone know which is which on the DVD players. I'm assuming one plays video DVDs and one plays audio DVDs, but its strange that you have to give up more storage space when the CD changer should have been capable of becoming a CD/DVD audio changer.
2 Can you get the full set of speakers associated with the DVD audio without having the additional DVD audio player taking up space?
3 Can you get an AUX input and what package is required to do so?

It has a 6 disc CD changer in the dash. If it has the Bose Surround Sound ot the Mobile Entertainment Center it has a DVD player in the console. The Navi DVD is in the glove box. The surround sound system plays DVD audio which is why the DVD player is in the console. You can play movies in it through the navi screen if the emergency brake is on.

Thanks very much for the reply.
Any idea about an auxiliary input for things like iPods, and what package(s), if any, it requires. I believe I heard something about it somewhere and can't remember where.

There is a complete set of inputs on the back of the console with either the Tech or Premium package.

Its nicely done too. They are in the back of the center console but are hidden away. There is a small button, there and when you press it a compartment much like an ashtray opens up giving you a composite video in and stereo inputs, as well as a second 12V power socket.
The power sockets are actually a bit of a problem. There is one in the ashtray by the gear lever, and that second one in that compartment and thats it. The center console (where my FX has a third one) doesn't have one. And the DVD drive in there (for watching movies on the navi screen) takes up about a quarter of the compartment... Not entirely ideal, but I can live with it.

One other thing... Next to the navi DVD player in the glove compartment there is a switch that looks like it works the trunk but it says something like "On/Off". It turns out this switch disables the trunk switch in the main cabin.
If you have valuables in the trunk you can disable the trunk switch through the button in the glovebox, then lock the glovebox with your key.
The Intelligent Key seems a lot more compact than the one for my FX... a lot more "pocket friendly", but still conceals a key to start the car if need be (or lock the glovebox). In the case the key's battery is totally dead there is a little compartment next to the trunk switch where you can insert the key to disable the immobilizer.
The ignition switch is interesting. Because it is a push button there would seem to be no way to switch on the radio without the engine running. Not so. You push the starter switch once to switch on the electronics. To start the engine you have to press the footbrake while pushing the button.
I also forgot to add... because the A/V inputs are normally tucked away, when you open the compartment the ports are at 45 degrees... so if you do plug your iPod in there the cable won't be coming out at right angles (where your back seat passengers could dislodge them). What I didn't see (though I haven't looked that closely) was if there was a cable pass-thru that would let you run the A/V cables into the center console, which would be a tidy way to store your iPod. Still, I imagine you could drill a hole if you felt that strongly about it.
