NEW YORK -- Toyota's Scion youth brand unveiled three concepts for future products: a possible heir to the xB along with scale models of a mini-truck and a three-door fastback.

All three vehicles are designed to be built from the Avensis platform that also spawned the Scion tC coupe.

The t2B concept gives broad hints at a potential successor to the xB, but Toyota spokesman Mike Michels cautioned that the vehicles are merely "exploratory."

"It's not to be interpreted as the next xB, but as a number of possible directions for Scion to go," Michels said.

The t2B -- which stands for "Tall Two-Box" -- uses the same 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine as the tC and Toyota Camry.

Scion designed two different door concepts on the t2B. For rear-seat access, the driver's side has remote-controlled doors hinged at the rear, while the passenger's side has one large power-sliding door. Neither side of the car has traditional B-pillars.

Wow, Toyota is thinking about dropping the wheezy engine used in the xA and xB. Big Surprise!!!

Eeeeuew! That thing looks like the worst design that Toyota has so far. So, to sum it up...an unspirited and ugly model for the youth oriented market. I thought that the tC was an improvement and we could only hope for better designs but this is a U-Turn from that trend.

Great, a squar-ish refrigerator is replaced by round-ish refrigerator. http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/rolleyes1.gif

Honda Element type doors on the left, mini-van sliding door on the right, and ugly in between.

Bravo toyota. [slow clap]

I thought that Nissan, at one point in time, had the ugliest car designs...now Toyota is surely KING in that department. Scions vehicles are mostly ugly looking cars except for the tC. However, the tC is just another version of Toyota's bland design...maybe a little better but not much more.

tC really isn't that inspiring stylewise. The Honda Civic coupe has more design merits.

I think it's nice and better than the other boxy scion but shoulda been a Nissan.
Good try at a super-deformed FX.
My boss would love it.
His kid can't wait to hose down the interior of his Element.

I understand that they want to carry on the success of the xB, but wasn't the whole point of Scion to always bring out new cars that wouldn't be "sequels" to stay on top of the latest design trends?

So, if this is the Scion tCBY, then it is some form of GoGurt? http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Look, they aren't even out yet, and they are offering incentives.
