just bought a new frontier nismo crewcab 4x4 in southern california. this was my first brand new car purchase (my parents had purchased my previous one for me when i was a teenager..) and wanted to ask someone about the mileage. is it common for a brand new car to have over 70 miles on it?? the fleet mgr advised he did not know how the miles were accumulated as they do not log where the vehicles had been taken. he said it probably went to another dealer for a sale or trade and came back when the deal didn't fall thru, details of which he could not disclose. i took his word and bought it but later a friend told me that dealer employees often get to test drive the new models by taking turns driving them home for a night. is that true?? and if so, are they required to disclose such fact?? i normally wouldn't care but the fact that my steering wheel is crooked by about 20 degrees to the right (gotta get it realigned i guess), and there are obvious nicks and chipped away coating on the rear axel, (not to mention preset radio stations on the car radio) bugs the hell out of me. am i being too anal?? would this bother any of you guys??

Yes, 70 miles is quite a lot for a new vehicle. It's not unusual if they had to transport it from another dealer, but the radio station presets and obvious signs of wear would indicate to me that you were given a "demo", or "program" vehicle and it should have been discounted accordingly. I wouldn't hesitate to buy such a truck, but I'd sure expect a nice discount on it.

If the dealer has used the truck for a couple test drives, they probably set the presets so the customer(s) could test it out the radio easier.

As for the miles, yeah they are kind of high, but I have seen much higher. Your warranty starts at the 70 though. http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Seems like they need to do a better job of prepping their vehicles seeing how your steering wheels off.. http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/rolleyes1.gif

Most of all, enjoy your new truck!! http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/cool.gif
