I'd be so pissed if that happened to my (soon to be) new pathfinder.
I have heard of this happening to cars, but not specifically to the new PF's.
Sorry to hear this...

A squirrel once inhabited the airbox of my old Toyota truck and shredded the paper filter to make a cozy nest for itself. When I went to change the filter i found just the perimiter of it and an airbox full of acorns. I cant imagine how much of this crap my engine sucked up but the engine never had any problems.

We see that kind of thing all the time and usually because wiring harnesses are so dam expensive that insurance will cover it and the deductible is less painful. We’re actually hoping someone invents wires that make rodents stay away since it is a big problem.

I just got off the phone with Nissan & they said they don't know how it the wires got chewed, so they will not reimburse me $420 the dealer charged to fix the problem. I asked the girl on the phone if it was worth it to loose a customer over $420 who has in the last 5 years purchased a 99 G20T, 2001 QX4, 2003 G35, and 2005 Pathfinder (all w/ every option). She said that was all they can do. Nissan blows and I will never buy one again. By the way, I hope somebody from Nissan reads this. My wife is pissed now because I will not get her a M45.

No offense but why is that Nissan's Fault. They did not put the rodent in the engine compartment. If you bought all of those vehicles from the same dealer they should be able to waive the labor.

Sounds like you got yourself a rodent issue.

Totally agree! why would Nissan and your local dealership have anything to do with a rodent chewing through your headlight wires? sometimes shiet happens pal. http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Zero rodent problems here. I live in a upper bracket custom home in the western suburbs of Chicago. It probably happened on the train shipment over. Plus the dealership is next to an open field.

I still do not think it is Nissan's fault. If you bought all your vehicles from the same dealer ask them to waive the labor as a nice jesture. Otherwise it is your problem. It is not like Nissan put peanut butter on the wires to attract the mice.

swdude987 im with you on this one.
Why do people always blame someone else for there problems? Like when you run over a nail and damage your tires beyond repair or you hit a Deer. You can’t expect Nissan to compensate you, this is why you have insurance (your on your own for the tyres though), in case something unforeseen happens. Talk to your insurer and find out if it would be covered. $420 is a lot of money; maybe a $200 deductible would be more manageable if insurance covers it. If it was being transported transport insurance covers it, you didn’t pick up a new vehicle with a non working head-light did you?
Was it Defective? Was it installed improperly from the factory? Don’t hold a corporation responsible for bad luck, [censored] happens.

werd.
If it happened before the vehicle was delivered to you, that is one thing. But if not, then it's not their fault.
It seems that with different chemicals vbeing used to make wires these days, many different brands are having this problem. I think Volvo was the worst.
