feels like you have no control

Hey guys 05 pathfinder here.

When I am driving over bumps, it feels like I have no steering wheel control. Especially if you’re on a turn going fast and the road is rough it feels like the steering wheel goes loose and you have no control. It’s really weird. Maybe not loose I am not sure what word to use heh.



My friend, same pathfinder feels the same, i am just wondering why it happens. Its my first SUV, I never felt it on sedans though.

Is it equipped with VDC? What you feel might be that kicking in.

Probably just understeer.

That is common on an essuvee, since it's not a car. The suspension is not made to handle bumps at speed, plus the big tire sidewall makes you feel like you are riding on atv tires. Our Pathy feels the same way, part of it is due to the cheap oem tires. I'll be getting either pirelli's or yoko's, when the wifey wears these out.

If you are not used to a rear wheel drive vehicle, this could be part of it as well, as I have never owned a rear drive vehicle i always notice that type of feel at times when in rear only (not engaged 4x4).
