Who's Hakosuka is that? I thought I knew of all of them in the U.S., but that one is new to me. I plan to have mine back on the road by the end of the year. I will definately be up for meets. I would like to speak with the owner of that red GC10 though. Can you put me in touch with him?

Paul,

Thanks! It's almost bone stock. If I could keep it a little longer I would definitely do a few mods.
I got the bug now, and really wish I could take it back to te U.S.A., but I heard that importing is now very sketchy.

I like the direction you went with you car. Very nice!

Where did you get yours?

Beyond sketchy. I'm still in the process 3 years later....and now I'm back in Japan. Sucks....I wanted to bring the car back to Japan to have the interior redone, refit the suspension, and finally get around to changing my cams.....

Looking good fellas http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif. I couldn't afford the real deal so I am doing the motorswap. It still needs full exhaust, dash installed, hole in the floor patched, few other small things. Anyways I rebuilt the motor with forged internals. Here are some pics of my engine. I am using the refreshed stock turbos for a little while.

A sneak peek at my internally polished block (gets rid of the stress risers around the main journals where cracks originate. It helps the oil drain back faster and keeps the block from holding crap in the sand casted grit which would have been released into the oil.

I didn't realise you had finished your build. That is WICKEDLY clean!

Did you go with the GTS25T tranny? Or did you manage to make it AWD. There's a few on Hybridz that are running an AWD setup on their S30 Z's....

Did you have any real trouble with the mounts? How much body work did you have to do to get it to fit? Have you weighed the car yet and determined its balance?

It's not quite done yet. That was the final mock up so we just trailered it up to Long Beach for the show. The motor has been pulled out again for it's rebuild. I'm just waiting on the new pistons so I can take it all to the machine shop. I'm going with 88mm forged Wiseco pistons to punch it out to 2.7 liters. After that, it's simply a matter of putting it back in the car and taking it for some dyno tuning. I'm really hoping to have it running by the end of the year.

I picked up a classic car magazine yesterday to investigate the possibilites of frame work and parts. They had quite a few Hakosuka's for sale. Apparently the thing to do now is go with an NA RB25 sort of set up to look like an S20. The average price for one of these cars is about 45k. The L28 cars were all around 22k. L20/24's were mostly around 15.

I like the headlight for direct air inlet, I see that was also done for the R32 or is that something else? I'm still looking at fabricating an inlet in the headlight on my R32 but its more difficult because the R32's headlight is glass and the R33's is plastic. If you have ideas let me know

Thanks. Yea it's done for now. Went to track day and back. 8 seconds faster than last time. I'm happy.
The 32 yea it's supposed to be an inlet. I bought the car with the bumper cut already but I don't like how it looks. You can use one of those woofer box inserts, cut the metal bumper inside, glue it in plance, then run a hose towards the intakes. The other option is to get one like the one I have on the 33. Since the 32s have a seperate corner light, you can still put a fog light in the hole and get away with a semi legal setup. You can see part on the tomei site. There's a shop here in HK that has made copies in CF and FRP. I think they still have the original tomei FRP(32,33,34) and one black CF for 32. Should be for sale. PM me if interested

Is your ride completely finished?

I like the headlight for direct air inlet, I see that was also done for the R32 or is that something else? I'm still looking at fabricating an inlet in the headlight on my R32 but its more difficult because the R32's headlight is glass and the R33's is plastic. If you have ideas let me know

YO check this out ! i hvae a tomei Intake headlight..but it doesn't have any mountain brackets but i am guessing u have to take the stock headlight apart and glue it on to the housing....i'll let u know how it goes after i have it mounted

Tomei airinlet. The FRP piece has mounting points that bolt on where the headlight did. That's how my 33 one was anyways. I DIY'd some alum. brackets for some points to give it extra support.

Mark, I am putting together a cruise on the 16th of September up to Mt. Baker, its an absolutely gorgeous drive. Hopefully we will have a good turnout, not as big as the last Cascade Loop drive (http://forums.freshalloy.com/showthread.php?t=153752), we'll have everythign from E30 BMW's to FD's, of course a few GTRs and a lot of cool people to boot. We are going to meet at Cascade Mall in Burlington, and anyone from FA is more then welcome to come.

Chuckanut is something best saved for say 1 or 2 AM when it's absolutely deserted, its a very short road, but plenty of twists.

Well, if everything goes as planned, that might be a week short of me going to Cali to pick up the car.

According to Sean, the car is very close to passing the EPA tests, then there is a 14 business day hold for EPA to question/dispute the test results, so I was planning to pick it up on Sept. 22, being that Wifey will be in Japan the first 3 weeks of Sept., and I have to watch the pooch..

I also want to do HIN Seattle. I'll be cutting it close for that date, (30th).

You'd actually be surprised how inexpensive these homes are here in El Paso.

The license plate is actually a temporary dealer tag from a local dealer. I took it with me when I went to RBMotoring.
We did a "virtual" trade-in locally because I sold my Supra right before I bought the Skyline. On paper, my dealer friend took my Supra in on trade (which he sold the buyer) and bought the Skyline to sell to me.
If only you guys knew what a PITA it is to register this thing (even with all RI, DOT, NHTSA docs) being that it does not have a US title yet.

I have plans to make this car do a reliable 500whp on pump with stock bottom end. It's probably gonna go back to RB within the next couple of months for upgrades.

not just the rear, but the front fenders as well - the car's got enough FRP that it feels flimsier on the road. Once thought of replacing my fenders with widebody jobs but not anymore I wanna keep structural rigidity!

The wheels are nice, but are too narrow to run 255s, as well as being different widths front and rear. They really need spacers as they sit inside the wheelwells by quite a bit, but is that some kind of car fashion trend these days? Dunno why anyone would intentionally set their car up that way...

Getting an original title in the State of Texas is a PAIN!!!! BUT,another option that is FAR less hassle is getting an out of state one and transfering title in. For instance, Georgia, Mississippi, etc. are a pain, yes, but far less of a pain than Texas. Another option to consider is finding a dealership that you have some connections with and getting a hold of their title guy. (Every dealership has one) It is a guy who does nothing but get new car and used car, titles and title transfers for car buyer's. Since it comes from a dealership all the ones they submit are usually fast-tracked through to get them faster and with less hassle. If you can get a dealership to submit your paperwork "fast-track" you are likely to have less problems.

As for the fittings, they are -10 fittings, that i welded to the cover. I did not do the polishing myself. Dont have the skill or time for it, but the picture doesnt due it justice when its 100% clean. Its super nice in person. Im looking to get in the 700-800HP right now, depending on how things go.

jas3113, Yea, ive seen ya in some pix lately. Good luck with it!

Jeff has the car now. He is over in Maryland. It has some 19" BBS on it. Toshis old wheels. 2530 car. Jeff hangs out with the Tekademics guys. His and Marcs cars were on the last Tek video.

I know Rich has the itch for another R32. He wanted an R33 forever, but I think hes back to digging the "maxima" right ?

Glad he is feeling better. He was really out of the loop for a while.

Anthracite, according to people in the “know” they say it’s the rarest factory color for a GTR. Its pretty crazy in the sun…

T78 is kinda small for a RB26 let alone a RB30. Why did you choose the T78?

yes, they do make for BNR32 and BCNR33. they were made autocrape(i hope spell right) and if you have side impact, it is stronger than OEM but it can be stub you....Carbon is very strong but not durable...Well, if anyone need them, contact me! thank you.

Either that, or www.hidplanet.com is another great resource to use for retrofits. It looks like a well thought out setup too. Those TSX projectors are supposed to be some of the best out on the market now as far as a crisp cutoff as is evident with the picture.

Yeah, I was going to polish the cam cover as well to complete the "look" but man polishing sucks so I ended up getting the clear timing cover and hope to get some prettier cam gears but those are low on the totem pole of expenses.

It is a very modestly priced relocation kit from summitracing.com They make their own version and perma-cool does as well. They range in the price of $35-$45. A lot of times I go with the big brand names for the look but for something as simple as this I just couldn't pay the big prices for a greddy or the like. I also threw the oil radiator in line for another couple bucks, mounted it right in front of the Koyo.

Nice! I'm curious about the oil filter relocation. What kind of kit is that and where did you buy it? price?

Well, it's still on the shop getting a new turbo, but should be out this week... Do you have a new transmission yet? I want to set up a shoot with yours and Susan's 34... Let me know when you'r running. Al said he'd do the shoot...

as for the gold... I don't like it as much in the car as out, but it's cool with me... as long as it's clean:D I'd change it, but it's not worth the time.. Thanks....

Supposed to be getting it tomorrow.
Not sure when I'll be able to switch them out....gotta find someplace warm to do it (plus I know squat about change transmissions)
Hoping to do it either by or during this comming weekend.

Yea, a shot with all three of us would rock. I love how there's only one of each chasis here in St. Louis and we somehow all know eachother.

I think it just doesn't work on a silver car. If it was white or black, maybe...but gold in a silver car just clashes.
