Notes:
1. The charts on these pages show only major tie-ups among and between Japanese automakers and U.S., European, and Chinese automakers. Worldwide, manufacturers have developed more complex alliances than those shown here and this trend is growing as globalization expands.
2. GM Europe includes the subsidiaries of groups such as Opel (Germany) and Vauxhall (UK). Ford Europe also includes subsidiaries such as Ford UK and Ford Germany.
3. The above chart shows only capital and technical tie-ups among automakers. It does not show to what extent they are expanding into other regions or investing in other manufacturers.
4. In principle, the tie-ups shown above cover only technical cooperation related to motor vehicle production and exclude sales tie-ups. Further, such technical cooperation includes only the supply of technology, joint development, supply of finished vehicles (including mutual supply), and joint ventures, while excluding the supply of components.

Also, note that this diagram doesn't take into account the recent purchase of GM's share of Fuji by Toyota. Otherwise the diagram seems to be dead on.

I thought Toyota only bought a percentage of GM's shares?

Very comprehensive. Diagrams are cool.
If management's new traffic-building program works, and Car Lounge gets too full of posts, we might have to put in an entrance exam. Question 1: Redraw the entire China-market joint-venture diagram. http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Aslo, remember that the Mitsubishi and Daimler Chrysler split their association. Isuzu's has been buying back their stocks from GM.

Toyota bought all of GM's share in Fuji.

Subaru has actually been given the task of developing a new sporty compact for Toyota. Also, Toyota is supposed to building some new vehilces on the Isuzu line at the Subaru plant in Indiana.

Too much change in this industry!

It's said that Toyota won't have too much problem at the Subaru plant in Indiana. Move in, take out Isuzu's stuff, move in their stuff, and produce.

Is the new management favorably disposed to new graemlins? How about hysterical laughing ones? http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I don't know how long the SIA plant was 'wastefully' producing (i.e. not according to market demand) Isuzus. Probably for too long. "Working too long for too little"
