man, I remember that clip, that's one hell of racing in the last lap.

I just wish F1 is exciting as used to, somewhat like the 80s era

That was worth sitting through 1:53 seconds of a Crystal Method track for. How many times did those fools run into each other? Were the cars really that strong back then? It seems like if cars these days even brush each other, then pieces explode off of them.

Serious. I don't like not being able to hear the engines in any video. To cover up the glorious noise of an F1 engine is a crime.
The sound of F1 cars makes me emotional.

I've only seen the video with that music, seems to have been taken off a tv show.
Wasn't that the big turbo era too? The cars were getting way too fast and many fatatalities were happening which prompted various rules changes including the ban on turbos. Something similar happenend in the late 90s with the ban of slicks and implementation of the grooved tires.
Last season was interesting with the one set of tires and two race/engine rules... and now a V8 power for the next season. Lots of changes happening but damn, I love F1.

1988 was the last year for turbo motors.
Here is what a 1988 turbo car looked like, sorry for the bad photo. The cars in the video look newer to me

I will never not find it funny how cars from "not so long ago" look ancient in the ways of f1 only some 18 years later

Those cars are from 1979. The battle is Between Gilles Villeneuve and Rene Arnoux for second place. It was the first race where a turbo car in the modern era.

Gilles was driving a Ferrari and Rene a Renault.

Gilles car was much slower then the Turbo Renaults that season and under the circumstance it was quite amazing that he stole that second place away.

Gilles car I think had a flat 12 in it.
