View Full Version : Trouble with my ProCharger Jackshaft assembly

I am currently on my second jackshaft assembly in my ProCharger.
The first time, it went ,it was supposed to be due to too tight belts and that made intuitive sense too me, as the belts, <were> kinda tight and I could observe some wear on the aluminum of the Pulley even.

Then AAM installed a new jackshaft assembly from the factory.

The unit has been making lots of noise lately, even mnore than before.
brought the car to AAM Gaithersburg MD and could determine exessive noise, but they did check the compressors said it was good w/o no problems.

Noise didnt abate and now yesterday, when I started driving the car (since i just totalled my daily driver) I checked the assembly in daylight and low and behold the jackshaft assembly ,looks like its starting to come apart and its edge has started to rwear an electrical connector.

It was too sunny out to make a good pic, but I think all can see the space between the compressor side pully and the bracket is excessive.
This is, what has caused the edge of the pully to rub against a connector.
I gotto wonder tho, is this the fault of the ATI remanufactured assembly or faulty installation?

In any case, I am now running NA, until i can get this addressed.

Since its winter, I wont be in a big hurry, but may take it to AAM since they installed it.

I was right about where your noise is coming from then, as I can see how cocked that pulley is just from the picture. wow, that thing is WAY out of alignment..

Its not as crooekd as the pic makes it look thats the effect of the shadow.

Actually the problem sseems to be it got "out" on one end and started hitting stuff too.

I gave a feeling installtion is at fault, as there is a bolt on each end that needs ot be tightened.

Maybe I'll buy a new assembly $250 I dont think ATI will cough up anotehr as they already gave us a free one once and this is the one.

i would try to do the warranty claim and I would also persue the other route as well

Update:

RTC determined the jackshaft assembly bearing are shot, possibly due to the bolt falling out (!)

ATI says they are willing to consider warranty reembursement after they see the part.

If they dont cover it, cant say I'd blame 'em.
So I paid for the part but ATI <might> reemburse in part or whole.

Ordered and received new assembly , am still NA tho, as its winter.
no need putting miles on the compressor, on what is now my daily driver (since I crashed the SPEC V a couple fo weeks ago)

So i take it that you just plan on staying NA until winters end approaches. Will this be something you may continue to do in the future as well. Interesting approach I must say.

i think it's a good idea if one is daily driving the car - keeps the miles on the charger down as its not really needed in the winter time -
