How'd I do it?
Easy, I went slow, on even terrain and due to bad weather feathred the throttle.
31 mpg (at at times up to 32 mpg) is what the computer read but the Miles to fill-up method bears it out.
This was most at constant 60-65 mph
In an easrlier experiment I was able to maintain 36-37 mpg at a constant 45 mph over 40 miles ( bad weather = slow driving)
My best numbers during more realistic driving ( 70-80mph mountains) was 24 mpg.
