I think the versa looks pretty good, and is a pretty decent milder transformation of the sport concept. Going from 2 doors to 4 doors is hard, and taming it down is always going to happen.

One thing I do wish it had more of from the sport concept is the more triangular c-pillar, or at least an illusion of it. my eye hits that almost straight up rear door seam and just stops. the whole back end "falls off" and doesn't seem integrated into what could be a wholly attractive car. here's what I mean:

It'd really give it that Murano-esque feel it's going for. A trade off would be the blind spot, but I do think it would look better this way, with out much change to the die.

i think its more efficient to manufactuer with the C pillar the way it is now. less shaping and junk.

I don't even see it. I'm so overwhelmed, I'm just gonna leave the thread and let you sit there and think you got something going.

The Yaris looks like a Toyota, the Fit looks like a Honda, and the Versa looks like a Nissan. Other than that, they are microcars and you can't expect a lot of expressive design, because the doors and engine still have to be there, fit in someplace.

I just moved the bottom c pillar forward a few inches.

Oh I agree about the micro car thing, and I still think this'll do pretty good. they just need to show the car in a different color than silver. It's the top selling color in real life because of hiding dirt, and that it also brings out the lines of the car best, but on pictures can make the car seem a lot more bulbous.

I did see a Yaris on the street the other day, in Chicago. looked pretty good.

Unlike PRIUS, Toyota doesn't usually aim to offend.

The Sport Concept started out as a Versa/Tiida. So it went from 4 doors to 2 doors. I think the c-pillar is the smallest problem. The front of the car is what needs work. It has a really cheap, bland look.

If you compare it to the Tiida's front end, you can see where Nissan cheaped out in order to build it in Mexico. Look at the grille, tooth, and lower front bumper areas: We get a grey plastic tooth instead of body color. We get a cheaper grade of plastic for the grille, and it's molded in a cheaper fashion. And the lower bumper lost all of it's dynamics in favor of something that would look more at home on one of those Chinese Cherry cars.

There was definitely a lot lost in translation.

One can only hope Nissan offers this vehicle in a Scion type of fashion. Where you buy the "blank canvas" and there is a brochure full of goodies the dealer can add to it to make it more appealing.
