Okay, not all hate, admittedly, as most of them still liked the car. But did anyone chack out this month's issue of Car and Driver and their long term review of the RL? OMFG...I am soooooo turned off to the brand. I mean, geez, if this is the type of quality on your flagship, $50K sedan...

We hit the road and started piling on the miles. Unfortunately, after only two weeks and 3456 miles on the clock, we found ourselves at the dealer's door because the RL's sunroof got stuck with its rear edge open in the vent position. The dealer couldn't fix it [in time]...so we took the MacGyver route, spending $1.68 for the sticky silver stuff and duct-taping the thing shut.

Back home at 5222 miles, we got our Michigan dealer to fix the sunroof...Just 600 miles later we found ourselves back at the dealer when the right-front window and outside-mirror mechanisms stopped working.

Our first scheduled service was at 7032 miles...We were back at the dealer two weeks and 1400 miles after our first scheduled service...Two thousand miles later, the sunroof quit a second time. The dealer blamed it on a loose electrical wire. A month and a half and 5000 miles laters, we were once again enhancing our budding relationship with the man from Acrua. This time the side-view mirrors and both power outlets weren't working.

Maybe we should have moved in with Mr. Acrua, because at just over 33,000 miles, the left rear headrest wouldn't stay up, the power outlets were once again on the blink, the driver's side washer-fluid nozzle needed realignment, and the [nav] system was rebooting itself while in use.

Yes, yes, I know, all brands and models have lemons, but to have such a poor showing in a major automotive publication? Wow.

I just got it in the Mail yesterday, I didn't get to read the article yet, but I knew something was up when the title of it is "Great car...if you can get it away from the dealer for a while" http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Honda must've been late with the bribe payments last month. http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I have a bud that works at an Acura dealership (in service.) He said that the RL's are having a bunch of electrical problems.

It looks like the RL is being is getting some beats. However, I think C&D can say these things without backlash from Honda because everyone already knows the problems with the RL since they have been reported else where.

No worries though, I am sure people who are willing to pay $50k+ for a 6 cylinder Accord wouldn't mind putting up with half a dozen electrical problems.

The issue is being overblown.

Consumer Report's latest issue gives the RL an average rating (well above any Mercedes or Audi). It's recommended.

I think the Acura dealer involved also deserves a lot of criticsm. A lot of those issues should have been taken care of much quicker.

The RL that my boss owns also have some issues such as wiper motor screaching when used in the cold, crack lines in the leather seats after 2 months of ownership and sunroof electrical problem as mentioned above. All has been resolved by the dealer except for the seats. They claim it's user's fault for deteriorated leather seat.

Yah, I was thinking about maybe trying to pick one up used next year around 36-37k (when current lease runs out). But I'm starting to get weary of this car.

I'm sure Acura will get most of those issues resolved by next year's model. I would just be weary about the first year model of the RL...just like in most cars.

That may very well apply to a regular model, but not a luxury model which should be held to a higher standard, ESPECIALLY A FLAGSHIP of that luxury company. This is a joke, plain and simple. You think the new Lexus LS is going to release with any of these problems? Very doubtful.
