Hiya!

So obviously I drive a lexus is300 but I imagine this question could apply to any make of car (I've asked this question on lexus forums but I trust the knowledge base of the freshalloy crew and would value your opinions).

Is there any detriment to stock shocks with aftermarket lowering springs? Specifically, Hotchkis springs with a 1.5" drop. I know a lot of you 240 and 350 guys have dropped your cars and may have replaced just springs as opposed to the entire coilover system.

My main intention, right now, is a suspension setup for a daily driver (meaning im less concerned with track performance). But who knows...i may decide to auto-x her in the future..haha.

So whatcha got for me? http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/driving.gif

Probably a better place to post than in FA Lounge (car lounge since it's not really specific?) anyway...

I'll admit I don't know anything about those particular springs on that particular car but...This really depends on how different the springs rates are from stock. Stock may provide enough damping if the rates aren't that different. However, if they're really different, than stock shocks may not be able to properly damp the forces causing bouncing and generally worse ride and handling.

Yes, shocks will wear out quicker.... Especially since your going for 1.5". The more you drop the faster the stock shocks will go...
