"The Raider has a good thing going because it is the only compact import (brand) truck with a V-8, but I bet very few people even know that," says Jesse Toprak, an analyst for Edmunds.com, an auto consumer Web site. "They need a good marketing campaign to get people into the showrooms."

WTF, they just need to not make anything at all. i dont consider the evo mitsu so...

Mitsu has real problems when they can't even sell a rebadged V8 pickup truck in any significant numbers.

Most people don't get excited about Japanese-rebadged trucks.

http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/star-wars-smiley-008.gif I am too lazy to find news, I come to Freshalloy for all automobile related news.

A couple years ago, didn't one of the GM brands have some campaign were employees were asked to drive "x" brand car and smile and look like they were having fun? Maybe that's what Mitsu needs to do. http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/rolleyes1.gif

What Mitsu really needs to do is work on buid quality, the build quality of my fathers 01 Eclipse sucks, I don't know how much better it got with the new model. Needless to say, because of our experience with the eclipse, when he gets rid of it(or drops it on me) I'tll be his last.

This thing is imported? Wonder if Mazda tried to say that about its B-series trucks?

You must have missed the (brand) placed directly after import http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/smash.gif

They are rebadging crap. The V8 deosn't perform as well as Toyota or Nissan's V6, gets worse mileage, and they aren't fooling anyone rebadging a Dodge. The reason people buy imports is to stay away from domestics! http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/banghead.gif

Choice is generally good, but I don't think I'd miss Mitsubishi if they left the US passenger vehicle market. Same thing for Isuzu.

http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/iagree.gif Who needs a friggin V8 that can't match the power of a V6 anyway?

I guess burning more gas for nothing is pretty cool.

Mitsu needs to drop this pickup and focus on some good quality "global" models to bring down costs...

Previews of the upcoming Outlander and Evo show some kind of progress.

I don't know why more companies don't stick to what they do best.

For Mitsubishi that would be making air conditioners. Not cars or trucks.

Yea, just like Daewoo. They went back to making ships http://forums.freshalloy.com/images/graemlins/party.gif and gave up this stuff to GM.

Yea, I agree w/what people say about the Mitsu V8 vs. the Nissan V6. Why would I ever buy one...? The Frontier now kicks serious arse in its class w/the VQ40DE

Oops...just assumed it was the VQ35DE since they stuff it in every car. Who else uses the VQ40DE? Wonder what that would do for the G35/350z...extra .5 displacement...yum!

actually the same Daewoo engineers are making the global Chevy products that are doing better than the crap they put out themselves.

I thought the VQ40 was a 'truck engine' - that is, high on torque and lower on HP - that it wouldn't necessarily be a good upgrade engine for the G twins? Also, aren't there fitment problems? (getting it in under the hood?)

Maybe all of this could be taken care of by some ECU remapping? Or is the design of the engine itself fundamently different from the 35DE to the 40?

It just seems strange to me that most of the talk for the G Concept Coupe has centered around a 3.7 litre VQ being the upgraded powerplant and not the 4 liter.

True, the VQ40 is a truck specific engine, even though it is basically a bored and stroked VQ35.
