Last report we got says that we'll be getting our first bunch of Versa's in August. I don't know what's taking so damn long.

Hawaii maybe? are you getting that from your local dealer?
if they are going to take their time with it, hopefully we'll see the JDM Fascia with the new nissan corporate grill.

Yes, in Hawaii. Hopefully they also ad the JDM headlights. Those have projectors.

hmm, that's probably just because you're in hawaii. i think the mainland will get them sooner.

So I talked to the most intelligent new car sales guy at the dealership I used to work at (Alex at Arlington Nissan for you chicago metro guys), and he said they're getting 3 versa's in late july / early august. He said they have started manufacturing them, but delivery typically takes 6 weeks to filter through the channel. (That's about right, considering that's the time it takes for a special order.) Maybe Schaumburg, Mid-city/Star, or Oakbrook will get theirs first.
So Z, you're probably getting august since you're in HI, but it's not too far behind the continental target date either.

One thing Nissan hasn't learned to do yet is beat the competition when it comes to releasing new vehicles.
All the buzz is around the Fit, Yaris, Camry, Civic, IS250/IS350, etc.
What's going on Nissan? It's hard to gain market share when everyone looking for the latest and greatest is already considering Toyota and Honda since they got their products out already.

Yeah I agree with you that nissan missed the 06 summer buying season with the new vehicles this year compared to Toyota and Honda. But it may not be so bad, as they'll be fighting for alot of the same consumer. While nissan can hit the consumer with incentives for the outgoing models.
Still I think in nissan's case, it's probably better to be second. They've got quite a bit of product in the pipe line for late summer and fall, and then you've got all the new introductions for the winter auto show season. isn't there a schedule of a new model or version coming out for the next few months? it should be a pretty good hype machine with all the press out there.
For a second tier manufacturer like nissan, hitting the public consistently with new vehicles will probably do more for them than releasing models sporadically.

Nice! Thanks for the info Alex! So they should be hitting the streets there pretty soon.
And definitely no problem on the name dropping. you we're always the coolest to go to for info there. And it's too bad about the spec. sturdy little car though.
