From the Wikipedia:
A gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) is the estimated total weight of a road vehicle that is loaded to capacity, including the weight of the vehicle itself plus fuel, passengers, cargo, and other miscellaneous items such as extra aftermarket parts.

Typically, when looking at cars, weight ratings such as GVWR don't really come into play unless it's a truck or SUV. Yet, with the small subcompact market being the hottest market out there, we have the smallest engines trying to carry more cargo with less power.

now the versa is the leader of the three in power numbers, but also suffers from being the largest in class. the yaris is the most fuel efficient, and is the leader in power to weight ratio of the three. The fit is the sportiest in feel, and also has the largest cubic volume of the two (there are many other qualitative differences, but I'm making a numbers argument here.)

That being said, what happens when you max out the payload of each vehicle? I've been googling for the GVWR of each vehicle, but can't find any number for each. my hypothesis is that the Versa can hold the most weight, while the Fit and Yaris would putter out a lot earlier than the Versa would. Put another way, I'm asking for the performance numbers of each vehicle with four 250 lb. people, and a 1000 pound weight set. GVWR would give me more of an insight to this, but the numbers are nowhere to be found.

Does anybody have any insight to this? Are there any data for this measurement?

Payload is likely under 1000 pounds in all cases. It's very easy to overload a small vehicle.

The easiest way to get this data might be to go to the dealers and open some doors. GVWR is usually on a plate on the driver's door jamb.
