J30 interior light problem

First off I appologize if this has been covered before.
I just got home and am about to go to bed, so I did not search at all

anyways, I just picked up a 95 J30 today. fun car.
well, tonight i had to drive at night, so i turn on the lights and... ding No interior lights.

no cluster lights, no shifter lights, no clock, no button lights.

what does work is the climate control (although VERY dim)
the headunit (aftermarket mind you)
and the map lights work when i press the button.

When i turn the turn signals on, those aarows light up in the cluster

So, it seems like none of the interior lights come on when they are supposed to (when headlight switch is turned on)

Any ideas?

Put a rheostat (dimmer) in it. Welcome BTW

mmmm what do you mean?
replace it? replace the dimmer?

As in, the dimmer "switch"?
I still haven't had much time to check it out yet.
Did get to check out the fuses, and those all seem good.

I'm still trying to figure out all the little things about the car.

I assume the door mounted switches might light up, and the letters/numbers around the shifter.

So, I take it, I just need a new switch?

Take the dimmer out. Take it apart and re-solder all of the connections on the mini-green PCB that go to the plug connectors.. That is where the problem is.. One of the few line-assembly weak-points on the car.
After re-flowing the solder joints, some light cleaning and re-assembly, it should work like new.
It was the very first thing I fixed on my J30, and it took less than 1/2 hour.
