I just thought I would consolidate this all in one thread - personal opinions from those who have seen the G37 in person - at NYIAS I would assume.

In person how did you react to the G37?

Did you like it a lot?

Where you surprised by how much you liked it?

Or were you disappointed?

And were you surprised by the disappointment?

Or was it someplace in between?

Discuss ..... :gossip:

Way sexier in person and quite possibly the perfect evolution of the design.

I saw a coupe on the way back to Port Authority and the coupe still looks hot. The G37 takes it to another level without completely abandoning its roots.

I know some liked the more "creased" look of the concept, but I think the "bullnose" looks much more aggressive and fitting of a sports coupe:

This is probably my favorite shot because the car just looks absolutely sinister:

The Nissan press photos just don't do this car any justice...just like the press photos for the Altima and 2007 G35s don't do those cars justice either. As for the G37, the rep claimed ~330HP, end of summer.

There's a weird balance in all of the Nissan/Infiniti designs that imparts just the right heft, size, and sense of motion. None of the other mainstream companies matched Nissan in overall design (if we ignore the Versa and Sentra...blegh!). None of the other mainstream luxo auto makers matched Infiniti in the grace, beauty, balance, and harmony of the designs. Although, I do have to say, the CTS looks really sharp in person.

For me, the biggest surprise of the show was the EX...it seems like a hyperactive husky that's just jumping up and and down seeing the snow falling outside; it looks like it just wants to run and have fun. I dunno, it's hard to describe how compelling the car looks and how the proportions evoke a sense of speed, sportiness, and power (the hood is disproportionally long to the body...in a good way).

I Nissan and Infiniti is now officially the design leader as far as their newest designs. The only hick-up is the Sentra. Everything else, even the Versa IMO, looks the best in its class. The G Sedan in person is so amazing, I can only imagine the Coupe! The EX looks amazing in pics so I can't imagine it in person.

I stopped by today and the car looks great. Seems like a nice evolution of the 1st gen. Infiniti really is doing the right thing with their designs. No one else has exciting looking cars anymore. The 3-series coupe looked so boring by comparison.

Was at the show today...the G37 looks very nice, evolutionary as opposed to revolutionary. The interior looks fabulous...like the sedan. I think the G35 Coupe's lines are more defined and angular, giving it a more aggressive stance than the "smoothed" G37 look.

How about the Audi S5? Looks nice from the outside.

I agree about the "smoothed" G37 look. I would call it almost subdued with the conservative front bumper. I somehow feel that the original design could not be improved upon other than some subtle changes so that it could be labeled the "second generation Coupe. " The new and improved engine is what actually brings it over the top in defining it as being the New Coupe. Maybe with time, the original series G35 Coupe will be somewhat of a classic. Look what happened to the original 1970 240Z with every change it made over the years into the 90's.Only time will tell. I'm anxious to see over time how it is received.

I like the S5 as well, but different price range, no? The A5 can't compete with BMW/Infiniti with a 250+HP engine. S5 or nothing.
