Enjoy these pics of the new g37. A few more closeups of that interior as well as a wide angle shot of the engine bay... ahhh.. 330 ponies.... 3.7 litres... <insert tim-the-toolman-grunts> Enjoy!!

I don't like the new knobs, and the new steering wheel. Other than that very sexy.

That center "Halloween orange" info screen really looks tacky and out of place. The seats look a lot more comfortable though. Thank goodness someone at Infiniti came to their senses and eliminated the seat cushion controls.

That chrome spoiler slapped on the trunk looks really out of place. Why the hell did they have to ruin a clean look?

Looks like the rear seat folds flat... wish my sedan's would! Whats the button on the side of the front passenger seat?

The coupe has a fold-down rear seat with complete pass-through access from the trunk (very handy for Home Depot Raid days!) I am going to guess that the button is for a rear-seat passenger to have the passenger side seat fold frontwards and track up on the motor so the passenger can have an easier time getting out of the car. The button is not in a good place for a front passenger so I doubt it has anything to do with seat control (lumbar, etc.,)

My 2003 G35 coupe has a sort of handle built into the back of the seat that does these functions (for a rear seat passenger to pull to initiate the seat going forward and motor pushing seat up to allow exit from the right rear seat.)

I just assumed that the handle (top right of seat above) was the only one. If there's two, thats awfully convenient!

I am guessing that the driver seat has lumbar support there, meaning it can't have the button the passenger seat has.

Actually the drivers lumbar support button is at the bottom and is visible in the pic above. Its the one on the far right above the door sill.

yeah, how come the sedan doesn't get fold down seats.

speaking of home depot, I have to rely on my old old car to haul lumber. These 'luxury' cars never have fold down seats anymore.

So is the trunk space any bigger? I know was one thing that sucked about the previous version.

I still hate that chrome lip.

Oh, well then one must be for entry and the other for exit.

I believe you wont notice that screen except on engine start..or if the car needs your attention.. hence the bright orange color. That screen as well as the steering wheel, gauges, knobs and buttons are shared between the 07 sedan and g37. if you own a 07 sedan and i'm way off base here please let us know. Overall i'm sure most will agree the g37 coupe and 07 sedans interior is much improved over the current coupes interior.

The info screen does look orange and out of place in the pic, but in my 07 Sedan, this screen is NOT orange at all, but is red .... same color as the guage needles basically. Small thing, but I think the red is MUCH better than the orange.

that's good to know. If there are in fact differences between 07 sedan and the g37 interiors i wonder what other changes are in store???

To touch a little bit on that chrome spoiler. I think your choice of car color will have a huge impact on how well (or how bad) that spoiler looks. I didnt take much notice of the spoiler at the NYIAS show as it worked well with the overall picture of the coupe. I thought it brought a touch of class to the car. Obviously thats very subjective but I think it'll look great on black.. chrome spoiler, chrome infiniti lettering, exhast etc..

FYI.. if that spoiler doesnt do anything for you i expect you'll have no problem changing it out or covering it up with the many aftermarket upgrades which will surely be available within six or so months.

I personally don't have much of an issue with the spoiler, but the rear seems to be too cluttered....the spoiler, the Infiniti logo, INFINITI, G37....all that stuff on there is overkill. I would keep the spoiler and the logo but debadge INFINITI and G37.

This route looks very nice on the G35c - I suspect that it will be just as good on the G37.

The trunk looks unchanged. I hope it's a little bigger too. I don't miss fighting to get my golf clubs in the G35 trunk, especially if there was anything else at all in there!

Not a fan of the chrome lip either. I hope for a spoiler option, but it doesn't seem like the set-up is condusive to one. Is there a spoiler option on the new sedan?

I'm sure it won't be too long before you may see that chrome lip painted over with the body color. It reminds me of the VW Phaeton having the large VW chrome logo on the trunk painted over with the body color to hide it.

Isn't there an optional spoiler announced already? Or is there a 'delete spoiler' option?

I too do not really appreciate the 'wart' spoiler - if it were body color and integrated into the trunk line I think it could be accepted.

Still, overall the car does seem - pending personal review - to be worth a try! :)

Btw, I hope everyone knows that the 4-piston/2-piston brake setup is the 'premium' one that comes on 5AT Sport and 6MT models only - the 'garden-variety' non-sport 5AT will still get a sliding-caliper brake design. I don't think it can be ordered as an option on non-Sport models either (but of that I'm not sure. It's a question I'd love for InfinitiMichael to come back and answer.)

i believe.. if you order the journey and the "aero kit" you'll get that spoiler.. or just order the spoiler.. something like that. the chrome lip is on every model.. the spoiler option covers it up (i.e. arizona track pics).

Riff, can you explain why the 4/2 brake setup is better than sliding-caliper? I dont know the difference! What are the pros cons... simple answer is one stops quicker?? no fading??

Thanks for the info on the spoiler - I thought it might be like that, but wasn't sure.

As to the 'multi-puck' or pistoned brakes, the difference would probably not be noticed by the average driver. However, piston-actuated calipers as opposed to sliding calipers have more 'feel'. The best I can describe it is that of a sliding-caliper and a piston-actuated caliber that have the same approximate stopping power (i.e., 60-0 distance) the piston-actuated caliper will tend to not be as 'grabby' in feel and will not have the traces of 'numbness' which sliding calipers do.

A piston-actuated caliper tends to handle track days better - if only for the fact that you have a better choice in high-temp pads when buying for piston-actuated braking systems. Also, piston-actuated calipers tend to be designed with high-heat dissipation in mind. Of course, quality is a factor - there are less-than-perfect piston-actuated systems out there and some darn good sliding-caliper systems, but all things being equal, a person who favors maximum touch and performance while maintaining (or even improving) braking power prefers piston-actuated braking systems. If you check out all the 'BBK' (Big Brake Kit) offerings, you will find that they are almost 100% piston-based.

Negatives to piston-actuated are that the systems are generally more expensive and (not really the fault of the technology itself) the pads used in some piston-actuated systems, particularly those meant for AutoX and track purposes, tend to dust more. That being said, I'm willing to bet that the stock brake pads in the 4-piston front/2-piston rear Infiniti offering will not be heavy dusters - and will be formulated more for street use (which makes sense!)

- Riff

P.S. Another possible negative to piston-based is maintenance, but again that is not the fault of the system itself, but how it is applied. You have to expect that if you track (or even AutoX) your G37 (even the sliding-caliper models) you will increase wear on all brake system components! Btw, BM - if you buy a 6MT G37 I think that the piston-based brakes will be standard (you should check on that to be sure though.)

I wonder if the coupe will have a lip spoiler similar to the EURO spoiler on the sedan? I'm not too crazy about the wing spoiler that I've seen in photos.

If you order the aero package the lip spoiler will be body color according to South Motors Infiniti

To the best of my knowledge (please confirm elsewhere)... that does not mean they'll color the chrome lip.. it'll be a new piece that hides the chrome lip and it'll run the length of the trunk as shown in the picture below..

FYI: Why does all this matter? because some of us are buying this car site-unseen.. i want to make sure we get our facts straight before someone orders the car based on the aero kit (or not).. and is surprised to find what it looks like!

So much controversy over the chrome trunk lip. I think it looks great on the sedan, but am still undecided on the coupe.
