Thanks for the info. The first time we've seen new G photos in all the available colors.
For those of you concerned about the front bumper and how infiniti moved away from the concept coupes design.. just look at the liq. plat. photo .. if you're non sport you get the concepts bumper (or at least one as close as close can get).. though i expect most of you who get a new g will get sport.

Do they have enough silvers and grays? Somebody please bring back dark greens to the pallette.
Also note the Liquid Platinum pic is a non-sport model. I kinda like it that way. Probably because it looks a lot like the current G35 coupe.
I would also like to mix and match the interior colors. Black Obsidian exterior with Graphite dash and door trim with Stone leather seats would look hot.

The Black and Red look hot. The other "colors" are simply different shades of the same color. And thank goodness that the concept style front bumper will be available.:hsdance:

Thanks for the info! Great to be able to see the car in something other than silver. Also nice to see the alternative fascia and rim. based on the angle, I prefer the sport fascia

I agree Infiniti really needs to broaden the color options. The Silver, red, Blue, Black, and White is getting old. We need some different colors. A nice light green a la Millenium Jade (I LOVE THAT COLOR), or a light blue that doesn't have so much silver in it. Also I like the brown color of the M and FX.

I'd bet that the Amethyst Graphite will be a one year color. That just isn't going to sell. The color palette continues to be Infiniti's biggest weakness. A coupe, especially, is supposed to say "sporty" and stand out, not "cutesy" and blend in. How about an emerald green or something like the bordeaux pearl that Infiniti used to have. The colors don't have to be "off the charts," but a little pizazz wouldn't hurt. If they ever offer the coupe in AWD, I'd like to get it, and the red looks good, but I'd like at least a choice of some stand out colors.:(

If the G37 Coupe keeps trend with the '07 G35 sedan. The sport bumper will only be available on the automatic Sport model with the paddle shifters or the 6-speed manual trans.
The standard bumper should be offered on every other model regardless if tit has the performace wheel pkg.

"Normal" parking brake is the old foot push pedal.
So does that mean if you get a Journey with the Sport Package added that you will get a old foot pedal parking break? Seems really odd for a $40k car doesn't it?
Edit:
Never mind I looked at the picks and yeah no hand break. I just think thats really odd since cars that are so much cheaper have them. Is there any technical reason why not? Does the current G35 auto coupe not have a hand break?

All 3 of my cars have foot parking brakes, so I really don't think price has anything to do with it. I think it has more to do with the console layout.

Exactly. Although I think it's cool they offer a hand brake with the sport package. Obviously Infiniti had drifeters in mind with that feature. Other than that, I wouldn't really care if a car had a hand brake or foot brake.
Actually, I believe women would like a foot brake better. Hand brakes sometimes can be hard to pull all the way up and then hard to release. I think a foot brake would be easier to set and release for women and older folks.
I think there are many logical explanations for foot vs. hand brakes. Here's mine.
Foot brakes have often been used in automatics because placing the car in P(ark) takes the car out of gear and sets the brake. Using a foot break in this scenario allows the interior designers to free up the console area for other use.
Hand brakes have typically been associated with manuals because of lack of space in the foot-well. Also, having four pedals in that area offers more room for driver error. Having the hand brake close to the gear shift is also a visual reminder for the driver to engage the parking brake when they park the car.
Infiniti is actually being less cost effective by using the foot brakes. They now have two designs for the parking brake.
The comment about Infiniti adding the hand brake for drifters in mind made me laugh. Hand brakes have been around for decades. Also, the use of the hand brake for drifting is typically a "beginner" move. Check this video (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8394553968091482211&q=drift+bible).
Sorry for going off topic.

I always thought hand brakes are a necessity for manuals because it’s the only safe way to start out on an upslope. To prevent drifting backward the driver must hit the accelerator, then engage the clutch and finally release the hand brake This uses both feet of course, so a foot brake is useless unless it's the kind that is released by a switch, which Nissan doesn't use.

OK, I’m confused (easy to do at my age). On the chart that describes the interior colors available with each exterior color do the blanks (with no O for Optional) for Wheat Leather mean that’s the standard interior color for that exterior color? And where there’s an O for all three colors then there is no standard?
NissLover
05-22-2007, 11:38 AM
The O just means that that color combination is available. If theres a blank, that means that color interior is not available with that color exterior. What confuses me is why do they have O for graphite and Ivory Pearl, but then at the bottom it says Graphite is not available with Ivory Pearl.

i've since read two different descriptions of that interface. one specificaly mentions ipod and the other (also from infiniti lit.) describes it as line-in. My gut says 90% it's a simple line-in.. just like the 07 sedan.
i'll have a new iPhone by the time my g37 rolls in around aug. I dont expect an iPod specific interface on the g37.. w/that being said i'll prob. go with the HK interface which looks very nice.. of course i'd rather have it on my nav screen.. but it should look/work nice.

Thanks for the info. I hope your gut is wrong. I am not sure I would consider a car without a proper iPod interface at this point. And I never thought I'd be saying this, since I am not one to normally go with trends (an iPod in this case), but I was given one as a gift and 30GB later, I must admit it's the most convenient way to carry that much music around. Yes, the same could be said about any portable player, but I can't think of one with the same combination of price, capacity and size, not to mention style and compatibility with virtually anything portable that is made out there, for good or for bad.
That being said (and after going a bit off-topic), that HK unit looks nice. However, I have never been a fan of installing anything inside my car that didn't come with it, not even HU's. Also the "FM transmitter" part scared me. Is that all it is? Ouch! Last but not least, where would you place that huge thing???

the HK kit comes with direct audio out... which would plug into the g37 line-in. No way i'm using FM transmit. instead of the lcd display on the HK i'd prefer to have it pipe its video output to the g37 nav screen.. just need to research that one as i like the orig. factory look as well.

aco hit the nail on the head
by the way, price has nothing to do with parking brake placement. there are many nice cars that have foot parking brakes. take the MB S600 and CL600 for example. $100k cars and no hand brake.

I got my free ipod last year after signing up thru one of those sites *sorry - no spam links allowed* and I purposely chose the ipod video cuz i wanted bigger hd space so i could one day hook it up to my car. Seems I remember a press release a while back saying the MY2008 Infiniti products would all support iPOD... not just simple line in.
Never thought it would be a big deal for me, but every car should have a true iPOD interface these days... or at least as an option, which most do. It's time. Added one to my Lexus and can't live without it. Fully integrated.
I would bet the new models G37 have a true interface.

Good information. I can't believe that if it is called a "digital audio interface" it is just RCA jacks in as that is an "analog" signal. Also this terminology is not used anywhere in the Sedan which has the RCA jacks.
One issue is that I have a copy of the ordering guide from the dealer and it says in the description for the Premium package the the Digitial Audio Interface (iPod connector) has delayed availability probably meaning it will not come out on the initially shipped G37's. I have mine on ordered and this has me really concerned as I am a HUGE iPod fan.:(

I sure hope that's not the case! I'm really looking towards that ipod hookup. My hope is that by time I pick up my coupe, Apple will have announced a widescreen iPod. If not I may have to make a trip to the states and pick up a iPhone. I hear you can fake the activation and turn them into a widescreen WiFi iPod... Nice!

You might ask your dealer to find out the latest from Infiniti on this. The car displayed at Stillen had the iPod connector. Also, the Premium Package cars at Barber all had the iPod connector. Maybe your dealer can find out the latest status.
Who verified that? Not trying to be confrontational, just hadn't read that anywhere. (that I recall). Anyone here have the Iphone? I am looking to buy one for my wife.

I heard that not all cars that support iPods will support the iPhone. BMW from day one (of the iPhone launch) announce that they had support for them.
Pretty impressive.

When I read "Sport" and "non-Sport" as packages and "Sport 6MT" as a model it's a little unclear to me which causes the car to come with which of the 2 bumpers. This is how I'm thinking it works out so tell me if I'm wrong:
1. Journey + Sport package has the 3-section front fascia.
2. Journey w/out Sport Package has the 2-section front.
3. Journey model is only going to be auto-transmission.
4. Sport 6MT model is 6 manual trans, and comes with the 3-section front.
Is this about right?

i read about the ipod interface from two diff. sources.. one who was at the stillen who detailed it's functionality.. quite impressive if true.
I purchased two iPhones for myself and my wife. Absolutely love it. i'm coming from other smartphones (windows and palm) treos, Qs, blackberries etc.. and i'm very very happy with this device. It's been a few weeks now that i've owned it and my enthusiasm has not changed
The iPhone should work out of the box with most cars.. the problem occurs when the iPhone causes radio interference.. as it does with my wifes grand cherokee.

Damn my wife has a GC... wonder why the radio interference? Does it have some sort of RF capability?
