Just curious. Does anyone know if you can have your Infiniti serviced at Nissan?

For warranty work - no. However, if it's something simple like an oil change, sure. The VQ is the same basic engine, whether it's in the G35, FX or Maxima.

Same answer holds true for your neighborhood service station/garage. Make sure you keep records! That`s the advantage of service at Infiniti dealerships. It goes into the INA computer.

I have all my Full Synthetic oil changes done at Nissan. Closer, and cheaper. I always have them stamp my book, never had problems.

Another thing - if you live in a place where there is no infiniti dealer, you could probably get your car serviced throughout its life cycle at the nissan dealer - can't be sure though. Example, live in alaska (no infiniti dealer), have it serviced at the Nissan dealer in Anchorage or Fairbanks...

You guys are lucky. Whenever I take my G20 to the Nissan dealer down the street from my house, they won't even look at it unless I tell them that it's the same as a Sentra.

It's said that the VQ engine has been changed 80% for 2007 sedan. I'm afraid that this makes it way off from the original VQ you can find in maxima.

Have you had an oil change for your 07 at a nissan dealer? I've had no problem with my 05, but I was wondering about the changes for the VQ on the 07, but I guess if the oil filter fits, shouldn't be a problem.

I just looked at my service log of my 2003 G35 Coupe with 15K miles and I don't have any stamps in it. I have had the car serviced and they have it in the Infiniti computer because I've received a receipt for everything, but I don't have any stamps. Is that important if you have it in the Infiniti computer system?

BTW.. I'm on a different oil/filter change schedule because I use a synthetic oil and filter. We don't put that many miles on the car (about 4K a year average), so we've pretty much been on the yearly drain interval.

How often are we supposed to change the in cabin air filter? My dealer told me every 15K miles, but the book says every year or 15K mileage. I've only changed the filter once because of what they told me. Should it matter?

True, but it's exactly the same as the VQ in the 2007 350Z.

Good point. Should be no problem geting oil change and other routine maintenance at a Nissan dealer then. Thanks.

Any dummy who can use a wrench can do an oil change. The only factor is whether they got the right oil filter in stock or not. Same for brake jobs, tranny fluid flush, radiator flush and brake fluid flush and almost anything on the car. If they are certified by Nissan then the mechanic should be able to just about anything on any car. The only question is will the Nissan dealer you go to work on your car or not.

As stated earlier, the only thing that must be done at an Infiniti dealer is warranty work.

Yes, that was the whole point of the VQ discussion (at least I thought) ... to make sure the engine didn't change to the point where Nissan woul'd have a comparable filter. If the 350Z has the same engine, obviously they would have a filter.

That's a moot point anyway with me because I supply my own oil and filter.

I bet that I could even get my car serviced at a Chevy dealer if I was a masochist. ;)

Just be prepared to pay more for your oil change. That's why I've started taking my Infiniti to the Nissan dealer.

That's probably how they pay for the "free" coffee bar.

have an appointment for my synthetic oil change and replacement brake pads on my fx35 next week @ nissan. i'm not too good to have murano parts on my fx, considering they're the same parts.

as far as my CD changer getting replaced under warranty, well that's going to occur at the infiniti dealer the next day. why oh why couldn't they have just put a single disc player in my car!!!

The G20 is a completely different car from the Sentra though and I never get why people say that(maybe for your servicing morons only) the only thing it had in common was the SR from the 200SX which that car happened to be a sentra. The G20 is a Primera!

It's only important if it's important to you. I have every service religiously stamped in my book (including warranty work in the back "extra maintenance" portion) for 2 reasons:

1) if I ever sell, which I probably won't, it's a quick easy way to show that you have maintained your vehicle on a regular basis

2) it let's me keep track of everything I've had done to the vehicle, ie warranty work, recalls, etc at a quick glance

I'm pretty certain everything in your dealer's computer is stored, so if a potential buyer really wanted your service history, you could get it for him/her... I'm guessing they'll "back-stamp" your book too, if you want, but it's really pretty unnecessary.

Update, got my synthetic oil change and front/rear pads done at my nissan dealer today - asked the service guy if i'm the only infiniti they see there. He said no, they typically do quite a few infinitis... They even washed my car for me tho its not badged a "nissan"...

Alas, I will be going tomorrow to have my CD player replaced at my local infiniti dealer, 30mins further than my nissan dealer.
