So here's the deal. Some guys are attracted to women who turn out to be nothing but trouble. I find myself attracted to cars that turn out to be nothing but trouble. Every year or so I see something on the road and think "Man, it would be cool to own one of those..."

The other day I saw a late 70s early 80s BMW 653 CSI in the Best Buy parking lot. It brought back so many memories. That was the Euro performance/luxo car to own back in its day. In my opinion at least. I've always loved them. I know next to nothing about them.

I just poked around on E-Bay and AutoTrader and found a whole mess of 635 CSIs. Everywhere from $70,000 to $700. Seems like a nice example can be had for $4,000 to $6,000. What worries me is the number of ads I saw with things like "$20,000 worth of recent mechanical work done."

Anyone know anything about these cars? Is it just a black hole of a money pit waiting to suck me and all my paychecks in or can decent examples be had and enjoyed for a reasonable price?

Old 6 Series?! please ... Erhard in Bloomfield Hills has a 1995 8-Series "priced to move" at $14K (manager's special).
If I was born with three nuts, I'd trade in the third leg of the stool in order to be a legend (if only in my own eyes).

Thankfully, I am no freak of nature, unless you so consider my overly rational love of Hondas.
