I was just in the supermarket today reading up on some car mags and it seems everytime they do a review of the new CTS they compare it directly with the 335i. I think this is a really unfair and bias review considering the 335i is a much smaller and lighter car and is priced much higher than the cts.
The new cts seems to be a mid sized car, should they compare it to the 5 series then?

Price point is probably a factor too, not just overall size. They always lump the G35 in there too and the G is huge comapred to a 3 series.

exactly! i mean if anything they should make the cts and the G go head to head, maybe even add in the lexus es and the acura TL.
If price was really that category then they should stop comparing it to the 335i and instead compare it to the 328i. i swear those car mags are bias. all of them. I hate the damn 3 series, besides the 335i which is overpriced for what it is, the 323, 325, 328 are all uninspired. Small, ugly ass interior with that cheap peice of painted balsa wood on the front, and lacking power.
Id take an audi with quattro over the lower end 3 series anyday. Or that new C class.

I agree that the 335i is a little pricey, but if I could, I'd buy it. It's fast, beautiful, and a BMW.. Yeah, I'd pay the extra for the label.

BMWs have very solid doors, not junk like GM cars (especially SAABs).

What BMW isn't overpriced? It's a good thing so many people are willing to pay for the blue and white checkered circle to say "I own a BMW." I think Infiniti, Lexus and Acura would be taken out back and shot if their entry level cars suddenly started topping out in the $40-$50k range.

The 1-Series will start around $27K (basically $30K) in order to cover where the 3-Series was. Don't get all accusatory yet, until you see whether you can fit into a 1-Series. :D
Like it or not, Benz and BMW are the international marques of prestige and they command the upper echelons of the market.
Acura dumped the RSX, but now the TSX and TL look cheap compared to what is being offered by the Germans. That's fine, because I can't justify German pricing out of my own pocketbook until I become as well published as Noam Chomsky.

i just think the price isnt proportional to what you get. i could have bought a cheesy little 3 series for the same amount of money i paid for my old CTS, but there's no way bmw would ever offer .5% lease rates hahah. :26:
Once my cts lease expires, i guess ill look again at what they have to offer, but so far iam not impressed with their lineup at all. Especially the ghetto looking interior.

Actually in the motortrend where the G37 beats the 335i they had a future product line up chart for Caddy and compared (size wise) the:
-new small caddy posibbly a new European BLS to a 3 series
-New CTS to the 5-series
-and the STS/future STS to the 7 series

That makes sense.
Considering the current DTS is what? supersized full size? and the STS is just as big as the current 7series and S class cars. I wonder what a 3 series sized cadillac would look like. :o

Caddilac BLS. Euro-only based on Saab 9-3 currently, rumor says it'll be going RWD and global by 2010.
