With the exception of a Subaru XT6 and a VW Jetta I have been a Nissan man since I saw the 300zx commercial with the action figure picking up Barbie. My family has purchased 12 Nissans from one dealership. I have owned six in 8 years of driving. Last night I signed the papers on a 2003 Acura TL 3.2-TYPE S. I waved goodbye to my beloved 1998 240sx with a frown on my face and a wad of cash in my hand. I will have a Nissan again one day when I can afford to build from the ground up another 240sx.:(:D

You sold your 240SX? Now that you have no credibility, remind us why you love to buy used cars.

Get to know the local Honda/Acura transmission expert, unless you got a 6mt.

The only Hondas worth having (for spirited driving of course) are the S2k and the NSX

I really love their dumbass commercials about "advance"... yeah advance into understeer and hit 3 kids and a blindman. :26:

Nice pick on the TL though, probably the only thing thats worth its price in honduh currently.

Do find out about the the warranty available on the TL. There may be extensive ones from the manufacturer. Congrat on your new TL.

I like all three of the current Acura sedans, but they need a coupe PRONTO. There is no excuse!

I test drove one today!

2008 TL. Overall the ride was quite good, felt pretty solid, not as solid as other luxury brands. I like the throttle response and it felt like it had power through out the rpm band. The only thing that really bugged me was the handling. FF cars are sooooo front heavy, when going into a turn i forgot how different they are from a FR. heheh overall nice ride, good value and lots of goodies included with the car.

It has a 7 or 8 year, 109,000 mile warranty on the transmission. It does shift a little hard but I am not worried yet. I love the car, the radio is great, it rides good, it pretty quick, loaded. I got a pretty good deal on it too. It has so many options(and no owners manual) I notice something new every day.

Can't deny the fact that Honda makes a solid, reliable car. The '03 Type-S was decent, although I'd still place it a step below cars like the G35, 3-series, A4 3.0, and C-class of it's time. I'd definitely take it over competitors from Volvo and Saab though...

My bad regarding to the transmission issue on the TL. I was referring to the first gen TL and not the current one. I haven't heard anything wrong with the current TL transmission. :)

They are pretty much junk, thats why they have the extended warranty.

the tranny is it's biggest short fall. other than that it is a great driving car. it needs more power though.

The only Hondas worth having (for spirited driving of course) are the S2k and the NSX And the Integra (Type R preferably, but GS-R will do).
Driving at the limit, I actually prefer driving my Integra GSR more than my S2000, though the S is definitely fun in its own right (and faster too). Wish the GSR had a LSD like the Type R, but it's still a very fun tossable car--I'll have to post of video of the Integra at a racetrack in St. Louis passing one of those slow-a$$ Acura TL Type-S's... :D

dont u understeer like a mofo if ur driving at the limits? id take that s2000 over the FF type R anyday. :D understeer isnt ur friend.

never had the chance to drive the integra Type R. Only saw a rare few in vancouver and it didnt seem all that appealing to me at the time.

I like my plane jane Integra just fine. Expensive tastes are difficult to reverse.

03 TL Type S is a great ride. I have one too.
if it is used as a DD from point A to point B or a night on the town, it performs w/o compromise.

Early models of 02-03 TL had tranny problems with the 2nd gear clutch pack which had a tendency to overheat. later 03 models have been fixed, i hope so, i have 60k on mine.

it has great torque and acceleration of the line and smooth as silk at highway speeds.

congrats and enjoy it.

Buying a used Acura isn't going to make Honda rich, just the dealer.

like M_Type_X mentioned acurazine, acuraworld, TOV, and h-a.net

i used acurazine the most and it seems to have new threads all the time and alot of good info.
i use www.honda-tech.com (http://www.honda-tech.com) secondarily, but only to look at other hondas/acuras for information.

i may be using freshalloy alot more if things go right getting a G35 sedan in the near future...
