Nissan Announces Pricing On All-New 2008 Rogue [Sept. 17, 07]

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 17, 2007) - Nissan North America, Inc. today announced pricing on the all-new 2008 Nissan Rogue, which goes on sale September 18 at Nissan dealers nationwide. Rogue is Nissan’s first entry into the small crossover SUV segment. It is available in two well-equipped, high-value models, Rogue S and Rogue SL.

The starting Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) for the well-equipped 2008 Rogue S is $19,250 for the 2WD model and $20,450 for Rogue S AWD. Pricing for Rogue SL is $20,670 for 2WD and $21,870 for AWD.

All 2008 Rogue models come equipped with a standard 170-horsepower (167 hp CAL emissions) 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine, advanced Xtronic CVTÔ (Continuously Variable Transmission), Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), 4-wheel disc brakes with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and a long list of standard safety equipment, including six air bags. An available all-new Intuitive All-Wheel Drive system with yaw moment control is also offered on both S and SL models.

Other standard Rogue equipment includes air conditioning with in-cabin microfilter, cruise control with steering wheel mounted switches, power windows and door locks, 60/40 split 2nd row rear seat, remote keyless entry, 12-volt auxiliary power outlet, AM/FM/CD audio system with four speakers, auxiliary input jack and 16-inch wheels and tires.

Rogue SL trim adds 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, roof rails, privacy glass, body-colored power outside mirrors, tailpipe finisher, 6-way manual driver’s seat, rear passenger heater ducts and an additional 12-volt power outlet.

Available technology features include Intelligent Key, Bluetooth® Hands-Free Phone System, XM® Satellite Radio (XM® subscription required, sold separately) and a powerful Bose®–developed audio system with AUX input and MP3 playback.

The new Nissan Rogue also offers excellent fuel economy of 22 mpg city/27 mpg highway for 2WD models and 21 mpg city/26 mpg highway for Rogue AWD models.

“Rogue’s aggressive, performance-oriented styling, powerful engine, responsive handling, and driver-focused cockpit combine with its thoughtful everyday utility to create a vehicle that shifts the way buyers, especially younger buyers, think about crossover SUVs,” said Bill Bosley, vice president and general manager, Nissan Division.

Rogue’s refined interior includes a driver-oriented cockpit, available leather-appointed seating surfaces, fold-flat front passenger’s seat and steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. Utility is enhanced by numerous convenient storage and ultra-functionality features, including an oversized partitioned glove box, a large dual-level center console and an available innovative rear cargo organizer.

Rogue’s standard QR25DE 2.5-liter DOHC 16-valve inline 4-cylinder is rated at 170 horsepower and 175 lb-ft torque (167 hp, 170 lb-ft CAL emissions), tuned to provide ample torque in the low-to-mid rpm range for smooth, powerful acceleration and quick initial response from a standing start. Combined with the standard Nissan Xtronic CVT™, the engine offers smooth, linear and responsive acceleration feel with high-efficiency operation. Available paddle shifters provide an added level of sporty performance and driver control.

Rogue also offers a long list of standard safety features, including a Nissan Advanced Air Bag system and front seat-mounted side-impact supplemental air bags and roof-mounted curtain supplemental air bags for front and rear outboard occupants.

Five options and packages are offered for the 2008 Nissan Rogue: Premium Package (SL 2WD) $1,900; Premium Package (SL AWD) $2,200; Leather Package (SL AWD) $1,800; Moonroof (SL) $800; and splash guards at $125.

Complete pricing and options are available on the attached sheet.

For the wife and I, it's good but not great. We don't need AWD, but would be forced to get that model in order to have the top-end options (leather, Bluetooth). With our preferences, the closest 2007 RAV4 build comes in about $300 (MSRP) less than the Rogue. The 2008 RAV4 is expected to be unchanged, so the MSRP difference between the 2008 models will be negligible. However, the real-life RAV4s are going for about $2000 under MSRP (about $600 over invoice), and somehow I think it's going to be difficult to get a similar deal on the Rogue for the first few months.

We started shopping in late April, and have been very patiently waiting for the Rogue, as we would much prefer a Nissan, all else being equal. But unless we find an accommodating Nissan dealer, Rogue vs. RAV4 will be a tough decision, not the slam-dunk it should have been.

First allow me to quote myself from the other thread....
....if a loaded up SL AWD turns out to be around $25-$26k then I will gladly admit I was completely wrong with my estimated pricing.
Next I shall quote from this thread...
An AWD SL with the Premium Package, Leather, Sunroof, and Splash Guards, is $26,795.
Ok now to my pal Not_Vin_Diesel, I am a man of my word... I hereby admit that my estimated pricing was completely wrong. I am pleasantly surprised by the aggressive pricing done by Nissan on the Rogue. With that said... I'm still not getting one. lol I've determined that Rogue doesn't fit what I'm currently seeking in a CUV. I believe a Murano or EX 35 would better suit me. Of course those two vehicles being priced in the $30,000 range (meaning I need to save more money for one) coupled with the upcoming redesign of the Murano means I'm going to wait to make my next purchase.

Yes, but 2008 Rav4's won't come out of the gate at $2K below MSRP. Considering the segment the Rogue falls into, don't expect it to sit at MSRP for long either. Maybe 2 weeks to 30 days, but that would be a stretch. If you would prefer the Nissan and the pricing is close, it looks like the decision is simple ...

Hey man, it was all speculation on your and my part anyway. I'm happy that it priced in a spot that makes it fiscally competitive, though it's not on my radar either as far as purchasing. Mrs. N_V_D is all about the big SUV, gas prices be da/\/\ned.

compare to RV-4 this thing is pretty cheap. If it has good quality and reliable it can be big seller for Nissan
For RAV-4
2WD auto 4cy $21690
4WD $23090
RV-4 Sport
2WD auto 4cy $23625
4WD $24665
RAV-4 Limited
2WD auto 4cy $23945
4WD $25345
all these are in 4cylinder
Nissan should had the V-6 too with 3.0V6
and Honda goes from $20700.00 to $28400.00 with NAV
no NAV in Nissan???

back-of-a-napkin calculation puts that about 38 grand in canada - vs about 36 for a CRV EX-L AWD

Although the traditional 40% markup here may come down a bit with the US greenback so low

The Rogue has now been added to the configurator pages on the NissanUSA site. Three of the names of the exterior colors are different: Silver Alloy, Pikes Peak White and Carbon Silver.

Roof Rail Crossbars ($230) has been added to the list of accessories.

Also, at the moment, the Rogue is not included in the drop-down list of models when you attempt to check dealers' inventory.

Good eye with that heated seat omission typo. Want a job with their website?

But if you go to the tabbed feature area, Interior Tab, does contain heated seats. There is so much there it is hard to control my enthusiasm.

I found it a minute later, so I edited it out of my post. The heated seats and heated side mirrors are part of the Leather Package. The Leather Package is not detailed in the Build Your Nissan option page, but it does include those items in the E-brochure and also in the Packaged Options tab after you click on the Rogue link at the bottom of the main NissanUSA page.

Also, in the Build Your Nissan pages, the colors include Silver Alloy, Pikes Peak White and Carbon Silver, but if you click on the Rogue link at the bottom of the main NissanUSA page, those colors are still listed as Gotham Gray, Phantom White and Silver Ice.
