They reverse the order from the Time Attack time trials. Therefore, the faster starts last and slowest car starts first.

they did an episode on 24 hour races. one team said they perfer 911s because there is so much data on how long a piece is good for in a longer race. they wished the japanese were on the same level.

I believe it has to do with power/weight ratio. Due to government horsepower restrictions, Japanese cars are only allowed 280hp from the factory. Hence you see all the NSX, Skyline, Evo, Sti, etc., are usually 280hp from the factory. Some claim that these numbers are detuned so it will comply with the regulations. Europeans/American cars are less strict on these regulations and usually end up with much higher horsepowers. That's why JDM cars are first.

I thought it was more of a "Gentleman's Agreement" than actual law.
I'll peep the video when I get home, lest Big Brother get me @ work. :)

So does the Nissan Skyline equivalent of my G35 have less horsepower in Japan, or has this rule changed?

its amazing how they're still using the nsx to compare to the other cars considering how old it is..

That NSX is one the newest ones made. The chassis may be old, but the car and the 10-15 yrs of updates/revisions is not.
Best Motoring will usually stage their cars by their lap times: slowest first to fastest, or their power-weight ratio weakest to strongest. Their format is pretty technical as they will usually compare cars with similar designs, power, and similarly priced cars.
