I'd love to see datalogs of a contest like this with the same driver in the different cars. GTR has lower laptime but also lower top speed, indicating some impressive stuff going on in the corners. I wonder how the GTR acceleration compares to the 911 TT in a straightline, track situation (not launching from a stop).

The lower speed is more than likely due to the 180 km/hr speed limiter. Works out to 110 +/- a couple mph .

Oh...haha. Never mind then.

What speed limiter? I thought that was a Japanese thing only limited to the street and not tracks. Unless of course did was a Japanese GT-R

It was a Japanese car shipped in. ;) They likely didn't know to put the car in circuit mode. Looks as though it could have been a bigger asswhoopin :D

Remember its GPS based. The car does not have a map for that track, you can't turn the limiter off.
Only when you are at the track.
Luckily here in the US, we are "more than likely", not going to get the GPS speed limiter.

Can't turn it off? What was that Japanese video on youtube showing the steps to go through on the information screen to put it into track mode?

yes, because the track is recognized by the gps software.
UK tracks are not programmed into the Japanese spec car, so it thinks its in the middle of a field not on a race track, and therefor will not let you turn off the limiter.

Correct , which is why its called a --- GPS --- based speed limiter.

Thats what I was talking about, manually putting the car in Circuit Mode, which removes the limiter even if you are not on a japanese track.

Circuit mode, is only active if the GPS knows you are at a track. You can not put the car in Circuit mode, unless it is at a track.
This is why, when I talked to my "friend" at Nissan, he suggested hacking the GPS to get the car to think it was at the track all the time.

That doesn't sound quite right Sean, whats the point of having a GPS based system if you still have to manually put the car in Circuit Mode? It makes no sense to not automate it so that it would go into Circuit Mode if it detected via GPS that you were on a track. The pitch was "GPS detects if you are on a track and removes the limiters" it wasn't "GPS determines that you are on a track then you pull over and go through the screens and then you turn off the limiter by putting the car in circuit mode."
If they did it that way, then thats just dumb.

Well thats the way it is. You have to be at a track, and request Circuit Mode.
