All I can say YEOW!! This thang is sooo gorgeous!!! The paint is so wet looking it looks like they just finished dumping a bucket of paint on it!!! Its unbelievable. I've seen pictures of the car in magazines and on the net, but let me tell you pictures do not do this car justice.
One concern I had about the 2009 Max was back seat room. I'm 6' 1" and the first thing I did was set the driver's seat where I was comfortable and then jumped in the back seat behind the driver. My knees didn't even touch the back of the seat! HONESTLY!! There is no problem at all with back seat leg room in this vehicle. Head room was no problem at all either. The drivers seat fit as if it was made especially for me. VERY comfortable. EVERYTHING IN THIS CAR GETS THUMBS UP FROM ME. The materials that they used for the interior are all top notch...vast improvement over previous models.
I wasn't allowed to test drive the vehicle, which pissed me off, so I can't comment on the ride aspects. The trunk seemed smaller than my 2002 and it appears as though the gas door is not lockable... I just pushed in on the door and it popped open (didn't see a gas door release lever in the car either).
I would've taken more pix but the battery on my camera died.
If you get a chance please go by your local dealership and see this thing in person. You want be disappionted

are the pix of the actual car not showing up???

The pix are showing. When the prices were announced it was raised in other threads that the package prices weren't included. Your pic of the sticker shows the price of the Sport and Sport Technology packages.
I actually am anxious to see the car in person since it looks great in the pix to me.

The gas cap door locks when you lock the doors IIRC.

I test drove a 2009 Maxima SV with sport package tonight! After test driving the car, I have decided I want one. If anyone wants a great used 2007 Maxima SE, white with frost leather, Mobil 1 oil used exclusively, with 23,000 miles on it and in new car condition, send me a private message! The car is in Irvine (Orange County) California.
Now, for my impressions of the 2009. Here are the negatives first: the car is smaller with a shorter wheelbase, no rear sonar, no electric folding mirrors, no folding rear seats (although it has a pass-through which will accomodate some lumber purchased at Home Depot or Lowe's). No side moldings, and the interior is not really any better than my 2007 Maxima.
Now, for the positive factors. The car stays completely flat on the straight roads, in lane changes, as well as in the corners. It handles much like a sports car! The handling is far superior to my 2007. The turning radius is much shorter. The steering is faster and has a better feel. When you take corners fast, the car exhibits complete confidence. There is no body roll. A 4-door sports car logo is accurate. Torque steering? I didn't detect any. The car fits me fine. (I am 5' 9 1/2") Plenty of leg room and head room in the front seat. I sat in the back seat with the passenger seat all the way back. I was surprised, but my knees fit! Well, almost. I had to place them slightly to the side. While seated in the front passenger seat with the seat back as far as it would go, I could not touch the end of the front leg room! (My pants inseam is 29".) My salesperson was 6'4" with 34" pants inseam fit in the back seat; however, his hair was brushing against the headliner. But, he had plenty of leg room. He fit perfectly in the driver's seat.
As to increased HP over my 2007, I really didn't feel any difference. The torque increase is only a few pounds, and that is what give you 0-60 speed.
As my 2007 is much more refined than my 2004, the same is also true of the 2009. The looks are great, and the handling is very much improved. So, if you are looking for a new car, the 2009 Maxima is a recommended "buy" from me!
The salesperson added regular fuel to the tank while I watched. He said that Nissan engineers told dealer staff at a meeting that using regular won't damage the engine and can be used on a regular, permanent basis. It is just like the 2004 to 2008 Maximas -- the engine won't have as much power.

Your MPG will also suffer as a result of using regular. If you can afford a $35k car, you should be able to afford premium unleaded.
Just my $0.02.
Either way, thanks for the feedback/mini review. I do appreciate it. :)

Dude, I used regular gas in my 2008 Maxima once and I vowed that I would never in my life do it again. I did it out of curiosity to see how the car would perform. The car turned into a snail. It had absolutely no pickup at all and you could hear the engine pinging at 60mph highway cruising speed. I was so mad that I allowed the gas tank to go on to super E. I then bought two octane boosters that claimed to be able to raise octane levels by 6 octane ratings with each bottle and then filled up with Shell V-Power.
I added one bottle of the octane booster to one tankful and ran it like that until the tank was a little below half a tank. I then added the 2nd octane booster at that tankful from half a tank and thankfully my Maxima's power returned with very minimal engine ping - it is STILL there! I wouldn't be able to get rid of that freaking engine ping even with the devil's octane.
Oh well, good review Ron. I guess you brought mustard and ketchup to that test drive because as far as I know, you just totally ate your words from before. :D
It's okay, I am pretty sure that I might even eat my words too once that diesel Maxima comes out. I just hope the base car isn't back breaking stiff because I might just use those words to sail on over to a Honda or Toyota dealership. :26:
Oh, and thank you for the pics Dboogie. The car looks phenomenal in the black, white, and blue exterior colors. I think the car stands out more in white or black, silver has just been done to death and I am so ready for a change from a silver exterior colored car.

Those are some beautiful pictures.. We got a white premium pkg which also looks beautiful. I drove the car for about 20 miles and fell in love. I will not miss my 335i so much anymore.

So apparently, SV's only come with leather seats (no cloth option).

Well, I also got to see and not drive a basic 3.5sv model today
I'm not so sure anymore
will need to drive it to convince myself that its going to be worth over $35k ( premium pkg)
siting in it was quite similar to my 2004 max as far as comfort levels go
maybe the hype was too much and the reality a slight let down at that price.

The more you option it up, the more the value quotient goes down. Those are some pretty high end features on the premium package for a Nissan badge.

Well boys and Girls I test drove a 3.5sv today. Comfort level was great, cabin ergonomics great, acceleration, cornering and turning radius were all great!!!
Not so great......the VDC really holds back on the throtle as you lift your foot off the pedal, almost felt "truck like"". Price.. with options too high
So what did I do.......opted out of Maxima for the first time in 23 years and traded in my 2004 royal blue SL for a 2008 Altima hybrid with white ext. and frost leather interior and navigation package( 33city/35hwy)
Sorry boys and girls...time to go green!!!!!!
Have fun with your new maximas. I intend to save the planet one car at a time!

Well, at least you stayed in the Nissan family. As for me, I plan to leave Nissan altogether on my next vehicle purchase. I can honestly tell you that I am not happy about it as I have been a diehard Nissan fan for a very long time but, I have had enough of engine ping issues and weird noises. I don't need to be driving a haunted car anymore.
As soon as the time is right I am going to either sell or trade in my 2008 SL hopefully for a new 4 cylinder Honda Accord. It'd be nice if Honda made the new Accord in a 4 cylinder hybrid version. It is either going to be a Honda Accord or the next gen Toyota Avalon. Only if God allows. :)
I sat in one at the local dealer. Nice car but could not get comfortable in the conforming seats. My knee also hits the bottom of the steering column upon exit. The backseat is too small and confined for my taste. Had no desire to drive it....

Sport pkg deletes folding rear seats (see sticker).
