The car has been out for a week and none of the forums seem to have any owners? This seems odd? I will plan to trade my 2006 SL with navi for a Silver Premium + Tech. I am waiting for the car to go on carsdirect, usually a month after release. I am concerned that no one really likes the car or maybe it is just the economy? Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks,

G

I'm waiting for the deals to start rolling in! But on the other hand I MAY just wait until I pay off my Xterra and get the Maxima as a second car. It's just two more years. With me, who knows! :)

The trade-in value on my 2007 Maxima SE is way too low. I was planning on waiting for the 2010 diesel Maxima anyway. I don't know if I will buy the diesel, but I want to know all the specs and drive it first.

I hate to give up on all the options, but I really have to have cloth seats. A dealer near me has this white/tan one in stock. I guess I thought they would be at sticker price or more, so I'm very happy with the deal they offered.

It's pretty standard where I live for most cars. I would guess my out the door price (the only thing that really matters) here in FL would be less then yours in HI.

You probably know this, but over the weekend nissan put up an 09 maxima lease special on their website.

I changed my mind, I don't want to give up all the options just to get cloth seats, but now it seems you can't get the sports package with TAN leather.... is that right? Thanks

That is correct according to the brochure I have.... NO Caf'e Latte with the sports package.... :(

I priced one a SV model with Sport+Tech package and it came out to $37,200 MSRP. That's pretty friggin' steep. I'm not sure if it might be smarter to get a G35 for a couple grand more. In fact, I can get $2,000 loyalty cash for a G35 so the difference would not be much at all.

Should be a no brainer to go with the G but I am intrigued with this new Maxima.

There is a dealer here in the Houston area that has one out front with a $4,800 market adjustment adder on the sticker. I have not talked to them, and I feel sure it is negotiable. But given the state of the auto industry right now, they have a lot of balls to even try that crap. I won't mention their name, but it's in the "Clear Lake...." area :sign_excuseme:

I got the brochure today, and in the pictures it shows the cafe latte interior (which looks great), but still a gray dash and gray along the top of the doors. What are they thinking??

Are you sure it was a picture of a an SV with sport package? I'm pretty sure the Caf'e Latte is available only in the premium and regular SV. If I'm wrong I apologize but the brochure I have definately has the spaces blank for Caf'e Latte under the column for the sports package. The two tone is interesting to say the least... I'm going to go with the charcoal for that reason.

I got all the time in the world now that I can't hang out in parts. :)

If I could get the G37 at the G35 price then I'm there. But, we both know that won't happen.

Maybe we'll just get a Toyota :eek:.

Its not gray, its black. I personally think its Nissans answer to the car mags that always complain about their sometimes monotone interiors. Which is true. But the tan/black combo is a European car thing. You will see it alot in VWs, and BMWs. I like it!

Yeah, no I didn't mean to imply it was an SV.... it's a premium in the brochure. I meant even if I could get the cafe latte in an SV I'm not sure I would want to.

The tan/black is not just European anymore! My spouse just purchased an '08 Chevy Impala SS and it has a black dash, tan interior, with woodgrain trim. It's looks pretty good... I'm going with the charcoal interior for my Max so I guess mine will be the same color for the whole interior.

Yeah, I think its a nice combo. I am guessing Nissan will start using it more often. I bet the Altima will get it with its update coming up.

Walser Nissan, where I bought my 2004, has an Super Black over Charcoal SV, premium package, premium technology package, mudguards and floor mats for a flat rate price of $36,300 or 94.77% of MSRP ($38,300).

This is the EXACT car I want.

However, patience may be rewarded. I bought my 2004 in July 2004 for 93.7% of MSRP with 1.9% financing for 60 months (and put zero money down - not even the tax/license - as its a company car).

Anyone know what Nissan financing is offering for rates on a 2009 Maxima???

After being the first person in the U.S. to report seeing a 2009 Maxima on the road, after seeing the revealed car, after test driving it, and complaining a lot about the specifications, it remains at the top of my short list for my next new car.

I can live with my objections and complaints, and I believe the 2009 Maxima is one great car.

After I drive the 2010 diesel Maxima, I will decide if I want a diesel or not. I will very probably end up buying either a 2010 or 2011 Maxima, depending on what happens in the car market. If a tree fell on my 2007 Maxima, I would go right down to my Nissan dealer to buy a 2009 Maxima!

I agree, it is at the top of my list too. I was ready to buy right away, but, for me, anyhow, the way the packages are, it's like trying to buy a dress shirt and all they have is Sm Med and LG. I'm gonna hold and see what happens. (which will probably just be me giving in)

Ron, what kind of trade-in offers did you get for your 2007 Maxima? Back in Februarly I had an INTINITI dealer offer me 18-19 G which I thought was a joke. Today the local Nissan dealer offered me 22-23 G for it for trade-in for a 2009. Mine is probably comprable in value to yours, 2007 SE with audio, sensory, and driver preferred packages. It has everything except VDC and navigation.

I signed papers and paid down payment for a 2009 Black (charcoal leather interior) Maxima SV with sport package just awaiting the financing verdict tomorrow and what interest rate they can get me. I'm trading in a 2007 SE same colors with audio, sensory, and driver preferred packages.

I drove the 2009 Maxima, and having also done a test drive back in February of the 2008 G35 Infiniti, I have to say the 2009 Maxima is every bit as good a car overall and how it drives is just as well. I found the Maxima more comfortable to sit in and drive than the G35. For the 3,000 less than the 38,000 G35 I drove, the Maxima is a great deal. Sales should skyrocket as word gets around how truly great this car really is.

I check the value of my 2004 every once and awhile on Edmunds out of curiosity. I noticed when I checked last week that the trade-in, private sale and dealer retail values all went up from the previous look - even with 5,000 more miles.

Dean, I didn't even get that far. According to Kelly Blue Book (kbb.com), the trade-in value was around $18,000. I figured close to 50% depreciation in two years is way too much. Plus, with my loan balance, I end up with only a small downpayment. After 3 years of loan payments (another year from now), I will be in a much better shape. The dealer has little wiggle room, since I would be buying under the VPP program (I believe that is what it is called), as I have a friend who works for Nissan in Nashville. (He is a former neighbor of mine at the end of my street.)

I just checked kbb.com again, and I came up with a trade-in value for my 2007 Maxima SE of $17,875 for excellent, and $16,760 for good. My experience is that any dealer would give me less, probably about $16,000 even. They won't make any profit to speak of under the VPP program, so they want to make $4,000 profit on the resale.

With regard to the 2010 diesel, I would be interested even at a break-even cost. Higher fuel prices cancel out increased mileage. Why? Potentially better resale value in the future and a longer engine life. Also, a much longer range between fill-ups. And, with lots of torque, more fun to drive in city traffic -- which is 80% of my driving. (Plus, I can maybe buy corn oil at Costco and pour it in my tank, or use biodiesel.:))

I checked KBB too:

Excellent = $9,075
Good = $8,290
Fair = $6,930

Edmunds valued my "clean" car at $12,260 on trade. I think I like their number ($3,970.00 more) better.

The intelliprice link from the Nissan USA website gives me a value of $9,420 to $11,745.

Any idea on how reliable KBB or Edmunds or other sites are in appraising car values?

Ron, those trade-in values are tough and I had gotten figures like that online too. I think this dealer is giving me a bit more because he wants to sell the 2009. I've been seeing the value of my 2009 go down and loan not getting much less upside-down in the next several months so I decided it was either time to eat the upside down now or go over a year until it might be less upside-down. The rule of thumb is about 20 per month for each 1000 borrowed so I"m going to pay 100 per month to eat the upside-down and another 40-50 for the higher price on the 2009 but I'm ready and wiling to pay that for upgrade. I"m anticpating probably a 9-ish percent interest rate and next year when my credit score is better I"ll refinance in the 6-7 rate and lower my monthly payment.
