V8 sounds great but that big engine means a bigger chassis. The Maxima is a sports sedan. Let's see how much larger it becomes before lining up to buy. Otherwise the larger Altima comes into play...

Kinda doubt since only Cadillac was the only company in the world that tried to put V-8 front wheel drive cars. Unless the Maxima will go to rear wheel drive Chrysler plans to do for the LH cars in a couple of years.

Now THAT would be pretty smooth...
But since Infiniti is heading towards an entire lineup of RWD Nirvana...maybe Nissan's headed there, too! http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/grin.gif

The next gen Maxima would have to be based on the Cedric for it to have a V8, There is no way Nissan or anyone would be stupid enough to put a V8 in a front drive car (except Cadillac)

I know that noone prob. cares but ford put a 3.4L v-8 in the SVT Contour during the late nineties. Just thought i'd put in my two cents.

That's what they possibly say the Max being V8 rear drive cause the Cedricis rear drive V8 engine platform and you know what? the Caddy is doing a great work http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/rolleyes.gif

Wasn't the last generation Ford Taurus SHO also FWD and had a V8? I'm pretty sure it was.

It had a V6, with like 200-220 hp.

If the new Altima is as good as the buzz on it has been, then the Maxima needs to do something dramatic to lift it above. V8? RWD? That'll do.

No. It had a V6. I am 100% possitive. Until you give me a link saying it had a V8, I know it had a V6.

the first SHO had the V6 with 220ish horsepower, but the second SHO that came out in 95 or 96 had a V8 with 230ish[?] horsepower.

in 97 or 98, i have a C&D issue that says it has a V6. But I asked for a link, I got a link. So if thats the same model i saw, with the quad headlamps, than I am wrong.
