Does anyone know what current steps Nissan uses in its new car production methods to prevent rust? I know some other companies use extensive galvanizing and zinc coating, but the only mention of rust protection used by Nissan is Durasteel. Anyone know exactly what that is?

According to Nissan...
DURASTEEL® is a zinc-nickel alloy with 50% more plating thickness than ordinary galvanized steel. Each panel is then laser-etched, creating an extremely smooth surface on which the paint will be applied.

I don't know much about Durasteel but when my maxima was rear ended and I lost some paint to the metal; it rained for about a week straight before I got it to the body shop. I didn't notice it rust at all.
