I was reading about the Hummer from Raser Technologies that supposedly gets 100 mpg and my first thought was why? I guess it proves a point about their technology, but why use a vehicle as a test bed that has a brand image that is less than stellar and low sales?

What does everyone else think about this? Was it a good move for Raser or should they have used a different car? Also, would you buy an electric Hummer that got 100 mpg?

Me, probably not, but would love to test drive it.

the sales are probably low because of the dismal stock mileage. if they can get 100mpg, maybe the people that want one but are scared off by the mileage would pony up for one.

that being said, i didn't see anything about production plans so this is probably just a display vehicle. what's more impressive, a 100mpg prius or 100mpg hummer?

I think they were hoping this would be enough of a news generating idea to spark demand for production or a deal with GM. A 100mpg Prius is certainly a much bigger deal in my mind. It doesn't sit right with me to have such a large car suddenly capable of 100 mpg, but who knows maybe there's a market somewhere.

Sales are down because they are ugly and people suddenly got taste.

Haha, I agree on the ugly part, but there are plenty of other cars out there that make me wonder about taste.
