I have been thinking about dumping my big V8 Ram . I no longer need a truck. I looked briefly at a VW Jetta Sportwagen TDI, and I like it. Note: have not driven it, yet. Everybody I talk to who owns one raves. Even the mags rave. But, I haven't heard from car guys, so here I am! I was thinking about a Rogue until I looked at the Jetta. 6 Speed, either manual or DSG. Seats feel comfortable, which is important to me. What do you think? I will be keeping the G-35 for s hits and giggles on the twisties, but 40+mpg on a trip sounds great. Let's hear it, guys. Help an old phart out here. Wasn't there a guy on here who is a VW tech and owns a Jetta?:ubb_confused::ubb_confused:

I was a tech and own a 2009 Wolfsburg 2.0T with GIAC stage one software. It is good for confusing guys in M3s. "Why can't I shake this Jetta?" The TDIs are fantastic. Good power, good mileage, good chassis and suspension. They are German so they will nickle and dime you after the warranty runs out but the engines and transmissions are bulletproof.

Thanks for the info. I really like the TDI Sportwagen. I have owned 4 or 5 VWs, mostky overseas, back in the days when bailing wire and duct tape was all you needed to keep 'em going. My old bod has been banged up so much I am unable to do much work on my cars now, even if i knew how to deal with all the electronics. Congrats! If you have been successful at the new cars, I suspect you are one pretty sharp troop. How is the Passat CC, with the 2.0T? My wife likes it. Says if I get that, she will give my G-35 back to me!:D

I love the CC. The 2.0T gets it moving. I would rather have the 2.0T with some software and an exhaust than the V6. Also the CC is a great value.

Thanks. CC has a great looking interior, and the chairs seem good for long hauls. Might wait for the 2010 MY, but our local guy has a nice Lux in what I call the USAF blue, with a great looking two toned interior. Waiting list and no deals on TDI Sportwagen!

From the commercials and all the info I can dig up, I too am interested in the TDI Jetta, seems like I remember hearing epa estimate of 58 mpg highway? Has anyone seen any with mods yet? I'm sure the turbo could be upgraded hehe!
