Need shop to re-shim my AST type 2 LSD Metro NY

I am in the Long Island NY area. I have a 1990 240SX w/ABS and an AST / Carbonetics type 2 LDS installed. My LSD growls when I back off the gas. It has been diagnosed as a poorly shimmed unit. I cannot seem to find the right mechanic to fix the problem or get a Shim Kit for this car. This is my daily driver so my plan was to schedule an appointment, have the shop order the shims, go in at 9AM, and finish at 2PM. No such luck. Nissan sells them by the piece and that would mean a lay-up of over a week. Besides the pinion shims (front back adjustment) I think I might need a set for each axle (side to Side). Can anyone help with the inner and outer circumferences of the shims so maybe I can have them made up? Can someone recommend a good shop in metro NY area?

While I don't know of anyone in your area, any reputable driveline place could help you out.

I do have 2 suggestions however....

1. Get a daily beater/backup car

2. Never 'schedule' a shops time...that is, never tell them how long you want the car down. Sure, the job is easy, but by placing a time limit ona shop is unfair to them. Plan on taking the whole day off, just in the event something goes wrong.

Try T & R Racing, 718-725-0179. Ask for Tony, and tell him Darryl, Muscle man referred you. He actually installed my Nismo LSD . He should be able to shim it properly. The shop is located in Jamaica Queens, NY.
