Alright guys... I finally have stumbled upon something... I was looking to buy a S13 240SX, but I just came across a '72 240Z that's been wrecked... there is minimal frame damage and the car is in good running condition... since this car is lighter than the S13 I'll be shooting for 225-250hp... I might try to do it NA without any turbo/superchargers... give me some inputs... and about the nose of the 240Z being flimsy when subjected to too much power does anyone know of any remedies? Could I use structural foam on this car?

How much do they want for the Z. Most of the 240z's I see go for dirt cheap(1,500-3,000) and have no sort of structural damage.
225-250 should'nt be that hard there is a company(dont remember the name) that offers a package for the 240z that makes like 300 na hp(without a 280 swap)It uses a stronger rear end, and a better carb as well as a few other things. Check around on the older Z sites you may find a link. good luck

Dr. tae,
I have a good formula for 220 realist NA horsepower. email me@ ekisela@hotmail.com, I answer many questions on this e mail adress as I have a performance shop, please send subject, and say 240Z performance/cheap.

Doctor Tae, Sorry to see you break ranks from the SX side but I am a big L-Series fan from way back (I had a '72 510 for years). I was at Road Atlanta a couple of weekends ago runnung my S14 and met a guy with a '72 240z that was a low buck MONSTER!!! he had an L28 under the hood that sounded (and moved) like a ford 5 liter. He said that he got a crank shaft from a Datsun deisel (810 wagon I think he said) which stroked his 2.8 up to 3.1 liters and raised the CR to he didnt know what. Straight junk yard bolt in mod! He was running three Mikuni side draft carbs on a Cannon manifold (good luck finding one of those) I think he said that he dynoed it at 270 rwhp. There was'nt much on the track that could keep with him on the back straight.

DR Tae,
Did you get the email I sent? L28D crank, KA24E high comp piston, 9mm 240Z rods, high duration cam 272 or 68 (same) should help off set all the bottom end you will get from the l28D crank.
