Was installing it today, and the flywheel bolts stripped on me, so I have to retap em and then drop the engine in. I have pics of the old tired DE going out of the car.. and will soon have pics of the DET going back in. I have lots of mods done to the engine, nothing to the suspension, I have Sunny GTi-R brakes up front, thats about it. I am still waiting for my ECU from Jim Wolf to come in, so its not like it will run without one soon. ECU will be back from Jim Wolf in a week. Plenty of time for my fixing of the stripped bolts. http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum//images/icons/smile.gif I will list all of my mods and pics of my front mounted BIG HKS intercooler when its all runing, I am anticipating 240-250HP at the wheels, about 275-280HP at the crank, right there with the Z28 or the Godzilla- Skyline... but my car is smaller, lighter, and with slicks even the Godzilla can't hang with my little box, but then again I will take the Godzilla.

Yea got that email today Mike. I feel for ya man. Im in the process of drilling/jbwelding/and then redrilling and now taping a hole in my friends 79 mercury zephyr inline 6. Snapped a bolt off in the block for the thermostat housing. Sucked hind tity. Hope ya get everything worked out.
Only problem with you taking Godzilla is the gearing. http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum//images/icons/smile.gif Gota remember the benifit of proper gearing and well the rear wheel/all wheel drive has the advantage on the take off.

I got a new crank for my SR20DET, I am hopping the car will be runing this week, JWT is taking a very long time with my ECU, since I needed custom programing and my ECU is supposelly one of a kind.. All the guys at work, I'm a Nissan tech, are anticipating their 1st ride in the turbo SE-R, and so am I. I have been deprived of my SE-R for the last few weeks, and had to drive my 1.6L Sentra GLE... which has NO power compared to the SR20 powered 93 SE-R of mine. My old SR20 is going to be rebuild and will push even more HP than my DET. Current goal-700HP at the wheels for the SR25DE-T, bored over with new cylinder liners and KA24DE crank.

I am still torn apart trying to decide on a ride ya'll... either the 91-93 Sentra SE-R... or 91-94 240SX... help!!!
I just want a sleeper that's gonna eat up the domestic boys... and of course... the Honda boys... using a turbo... and I wanna use less than 8psi so I can drive it everyday without any problems...

if i had deep pockets, i'd go with the 240SX. it's a true sports car, the sentra SE-R is a 2 door coupe. i'd buy a 240SX and drop an SR20DET in it. according to Mike Jez and others, that engine can be tuned to make a buttload of power. of course the NA version of that engine comes with the SE-r
go for the 240! http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum//images/icons/grin.gif

Here are the pros and cons...
SE-R - comes with SR20DE (possibly the best 4-cyl engine ever made), but it's a FWD... lighter than 240SX, relatively bland styling, but nobody would know what's under the hood...
240SX - RWD, KA24DE is not a bad engine and could be tuned to moderate power levels... a true sports car styling, especially with some body work, like the Veilside Combat... a little heavier than the SE-R...
These are the reasons why I'm still going back and forth between the two cars... http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum//images/icons/grin.gif

you're definitely right. the 240 can look great with a good body kit (as pictured above--not my car by the way). you can probably find an S13 for a pretty good price. i would buy it for the handling and styling alone, then add the SR20DET and a body kit (it looks like a lot of work, though). I used to drive a B13 sentra and the build quality sucked. the SE-R might be better, but the styling is still boring. the 240 will give you a car that you can go out in with style.. http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum//images/icons/cool.gif
Check out this website on this guy's S13 240 turned Silvia: http://www.eurostreetgraphics.com/srswap.htm

those are just my opinions. hopefully some other people will post their views

If you think that looks good, then take a look at this VeilSide Combat body kit with the headlight conversion...

both kits look cool, but the black one more fits my conservative tastes (except the tall spoiler). i don't know anything about that veilside 240, but the black one from the website i posted has performance pretty close to the S15 silvia thanks to the SR20DET(a little better, at least according to the owner).
there also seems to be more options for the 240 in terms of body kits. i haven't seen nearly as many for the sentra. basically the only thing i like about the SE-R is the engine. but ultimately the choice is yours. http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum//images/icons/grin.gif

That is not a 240SX, but a 98 180SX Japan Spec... with SR20DET, but with 216hp... but either case, if I can turbocharge the KA24DE in the US 240SX, I can get a healthy 230-250hp only using 5-7psi... using stock internals... and with the right intake, exhaust, ECU programming, suspension work, and wheel/tire setup it will be a formidable machine...
When I had the 92 Sentra SE-R, to get 235hp, I had to run it at close to 11psi, that was with stock internals, but the tech told me that wouldn't be so healthy... so I had to run it at 9psi, for everyday driving... a very fun car indeed, and I didn't have any problems of build quality...
The KA24DE is a torque machine compared to the SR... but then, there is way more aftermarket support for the SR20DE than does KA24DE... damn... the more and more I think about it, I'm confused!!! http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum//images/icons/grin.gif

Different stokes for different folks. I personaly dont like the styling of the 240 all that much. It just doesnt do much for me and the interior is even worse. Forget driving it confortably unless your under 6'2" I tried to get in my friends 96(I think) me being 6'4" it wasnt easy. Its all about personal tastes. I like my 93 se-r its sporty but at a lower volume.

I thought you wanted a sleeper? If I saw you with that body kit, I would Know you had a lot of $$$ in your ride and I wouldn't want to race you.
You've already owned a se-r, so I think you should give the 240 a try. The 240 looks good, handles great and with a turbo and a few mods it should perform better than most domestics. Plus a rwd car with power feels so much better than a fwd.

Another factor about the 240SX/Silvia cars are the ones not known by people who don't drive them. With more time in the car, you will discover how tossible the chassis is when you want to get a nice drift or some psycho drift-king imitation.
Yes the SE-R is tossible for FWD, but the S13/S14/S15 is a totally different animal. The handling is very safe and predictable. And once the suspension tuning is done correctly, very neutral. Too bad you aren't anywhere near Phx other wise, I'll take you for a spin...
