View Full Version : NISSAN RESTYLE THE BACKEND OF THE CURRENT SENTRA!

The rear of the Sentra needs to be restyled soon. The car is always having a "sad face" look in the rear. Anyone agree? http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif

What's funny is I read in Hirshberg's book was when NDI was designing the J30, one of the first sketches had a front that had a grille that looked like an unhappy face and it actually disturbed a lot of the staff at Nissan Japan Technical Center.

Somebody post a pic of a 95-99 sentra then we can compare

the rear end of the new sentra looks worse than the rear of the 95-99 one. but everything in front looks better. nissan almost had it right...

Is it me or does everybody observed that the Maxima and Sentras have great front ends but messed up backs. Why doesn't Nissan finish off a good design with an appropriate rear? They had to mess up the style of the car with a ugly back.

I like the new sentra, even its rear end kinda looks like a cross between an old and new altima.

I agree, the rear should be redesigned. It does not go with the great looking front. And yes, it does look sad.

Rear of my car:

The 2000 one above just needs a spoiler like the 95-99's. Without one the rear looks funky. With one it looks great as you can see http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif

It might be interesting, but all Nissan sedans look ugly from behind without spoilers, especially altima (both generations).

06-20-2000, 06:23 PM
Even with the spoiler, still needs a new back end. http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif

NDI is just styling their cars to reflect the current state of the parent company..... Just plain sad! http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/wink.gif

OH, you guys would be very, very pissed if you see the 2000 sentra on sale in Taiwan. It's the Japan model. Boy, talk about stealing the show. This thing is sweet. NAV system, onboard assistant (on-star type: Nissan PVA). Wood trim steering wheel, and the plus. The valve cover finisher piece is awesome too.

All I have to say is that the US version is a joke compared to the Taiwan version... Very sad indeed...

Hey man do you have any pictures of the Sentra in Taiwan... just to REALLY piss all of us americans off =)

Still the same. http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif What's with the A6 here? Does Nissan view FreshAlloy? If Nissan is reading the forums, the frontend is great but didn't have enough gas to finish the back.

I think the early 90's (B13?) Sentra's rear end looked the best. They shoulda just kept that rear end and updated it.

B14 rear lights are too high.... It makes the car look like a fat chick, lol.

Y2K Sentra looks way too much like the Altima, which sales have been declining yearly (and beginning to look really dated). Cost Cutting Creativity (...brain fart) at work.

Civics, Corollas, Hyndais, Daewoos (gulp), Kias (gasp) have more styling effort put into them.... First impressions can go a long way, too bad NDI never sees things this way (IE you'll like this design 5 years from now when it is discontinued) http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/confused.gif

Hey guys, I just wanted to give my support to the NDI guys. I may be the only person in the planet who likes the rear end of the Sentra. Especially with the spoiler as somebody already said. I think it looks way more original and more stylish than the Civic Sedan or any Hyundai, Kia?? c'mon, it's abig improvement from last year, I just think that you guys are asking for a little too much. Anything that NDI releases will be criticized, that's probably the whole idea, to give some people something to debate about, not to blend in with the crowd. I think that the new Sentra, Front and Back end definitely stands out of the Compact Car class, and apparently many of the reviews think so too.

I think there are more people (including me) who like the new Sentra all around. I think it's a vast improvement over the previous generation and looks more distinctive than the it's primary competitors; the Corolla and Civic.

At least I like the Sentra rear a lot more than I like the 5th gen Maxima's.

Noel, yes the Sentra is a vast improvement from the previous generation in terms or looks and everything but the rear doesn't match well with the front. Yes, the Max has a bad rear.

I agree, and cant wait to see the 2dr se-r. Nissan should keep the se-r very basic like the original to keep it's cost down.(around 16k) A great alternative to the civic si.

Only three things come to my mind when thinking of Nissan's current line up: UGLY, UGLY, UGLY! This opinion extends towards Infiniti's too http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif

I have to disagree on the most part the Nissan line up has only 1 ugly car which is the Quest. But the rest of the line up ranges from boring to spectacular. Frontier and Altima qualify as boring sentra and Pathfinder have a tad of excitement to them I also think that Pathfinder has the perfect look for an SUV. Maxima has the perfect look for what it is the front end was sculpted bold and aggressive, I only wish they had made the rear end more proportionate and put the tail lights within a more angular geometric shape(I hope that made sense). Xterra speaks for itself sales have been rising ever since introduction. The vehicle looks equipped, kind of like one of those backpacks that you always wanted when you were little with all the pockets and zippers and other places to keep stuff, yet it look rugged with the black color toned rubber bottom.

About Infiniti, compared to other Luxo companies Infiniti knows what a luxury car is suppose to look like. I would pick any of the cars in Infiniti's line up over some of what Merecedes Benz is offering. Infinti's are not bland cars compared to Lexus and especially Acura (which I'm not sure is really luxury at all). They all have nice rear ends and G20 has the best one in the line up. Accessories like the rear sunshade and the analog clock seperates Infiniti from the mainstream. Now a days it feels like there is nothing that separtes luxury from the mainstream cars besides more horsepower and a high price tag.

Driving on the freeway, minding my own business, I suddenly saw a silverly machine pull up next to me and slide by. (He was in a right-lane, doing about 80.) At first I thougt it was an Audi. Lo and behold, it was a new Sentra GLE. And that's when it sunk in. The Sentra is a baby Audi. A lowercase "a4." And it's butt is like a mini A6.

I agree that the B15 has a lot better design than the B14. Unlike many guys here, I like the rear-end of the 2000 model, especially with the rear spoiler; much different than thes rest of the bunch. When you see a Se, you really got the feeling of a mini-Maxima.

I remember when it was time to buy my new sentra in 1997, I choosed an Altima instead this ugly version (the B14, of course). http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/frown.gif http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/frown.gif http://forums.freshalloy.com/forum/images/icons/frown.gif
Now, with the B15 on sale, I can't wait to get my hand on the Se with sport package...
