Boy, your stuck on this 'bad for Infiniti' thing. If its any consolation, one will be rear drive, the other front drive. I highly doubt they will have identity crisis's. I'm sure they will have seperate pesonalities! Kinda like a newphew and uncle type thing.
Are you an Infiniti owner?

I agree with Zed. Having similarities between the Nissan and Infinity badges is going to be a good thing for the company. Like Honda/Acura and Toyota/Lexus, similarities help reinforce the quality of their cars.
Both Toyota and Honda have great overall customer confidence ratings because of their dependability. This confidence has been passed on to their luxury lines very well. If Nissan can convey to the consumer the quality and workmanship that goes into an Infinity model then I believe that they will have more success here in the U.S. And where do you start to convey this message? Through design so that the consumer is able to put the two badges together and can begin to confide in Infinity for Nissan dependability.

BUT THEY ARE TWO DIFFERENT COMPANIES!!! Why on earth should a luxury brand share design themes with a domestic brand? In what way does this help a luxury brand? Maybe Im stuck on it being bad for Infiniti, but you guys are stuck on looking past the truth. Honda does not share design themes with Acura exept they are somewhat boring. What Lexus looks like a Toyota besides the Camry and ES? You guys are looking right passed it. I dont know how else to explain it...

Think of it like this: If Infiniti already gets hammered for looking like Nissan, how would a Infiniti looking like the Altima, or visa versa, help Infiniti?

Exactly. You would have to look very, very close to see a similarity between the Accord and TL for example. The only things I could notice were the windshield wiper and mirror switches. Everything else on the surface is different, from the styling, to the interior, to the engine, to the transmission.
The recent Jaguars (S,X-Type) are looking more and more like the Ford Taurus. Again, good for Ford, bad for Jaguar.

So you are just reinstating what I have said. What are you trying to get to?
